Ok, I tested RE 1.2 now and get the same results. So it must be the map itself or my computer. Too bad .

It was something within the map that was making it crash and I think it was the fact that someone added Skybox inside of a building and I added skybox on the outside of the map. Once I cleaned the map up it started saving perfectly fine.

So you might want to check over your map or have someone with a beefier PC try and see if it gives them problems.

Hi, yeah everyone can take a look on the map: cutec work in progress. I had to make many backup saves too, but this way I can only make tiny steps, which takes too long. The lights aren't calculated complete here - only for a preview, because of the crashes.
I use an AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core (2x 2,2 GHz) with 2GB's of RAM, on win 7 Ultimate, as mentioned before. My graphic card is called Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT.
If you could find a corruption on the map you could correct this and send the file back. Although it would be strange, because I never had this trouble before and didn't changed groundbreaking things yet. To the contrary, I try to simplify everything to need less hardwere in the future.

Maybe you could do so Karoushi? I have some problems with my pc at the moment. Have to update everything and you know cutec crashes while editing for me at the moment. I would be glad to see your results .

A lot of the crashes you are experiencing are probably from having old hardware but a new OS.

2GB of ram is the bare minimum for Win7 to even run, so you might want to think about getting some better hardware.

I'll download this map and take a look and see what I find, hopefully I can help you out on it.


Alright I am looking at it in the editor and I would say that the crashes you get are probably just your PC hardware. Looking at all the objects from a distance in the map it brings my rig down to 30-40 FPS from 100-200. It is a fairly advanced looking map and there are lots of effects. I went ahead and remipped it right after opening it and that merged some surfaces, fixed some t-joints, etc - But when I calculated the full light map it had to remip again and this took awhile, see the below edit for new information.So In conclusion I believe that there isn't a problem with the map itself (unless it is the advanced geometry and all the effects) I think that it is your hardware that isn't capable because it doesn't have enough bandwidth both on the graphics side and the processing side, so it crashes. Since you probably don't have 4gb+ of video memory and only 2gb of ram, your rig can't handle all of the data and therefor crashes everytime you edit it. I haven't tried editing anything but it hasn't crashed for me, if you could give me an example of something you would edit that would make you crash I can try to reproduce it, but my deduction/belief at this point is that your PC simply can't handle all of this data and crashes out of the application due to reaching it's overhead limit (application can't access more ram, therefor quits due to a fault).

My suggestions, other then immediately upgrading your hardware, would be to try applications that increase the overhead of the exe: Large Aware Address.exe can patch 32bit exe's to accept more then 2gb of ram/page file, it is made by Ford "GT90Concept" Glasser. I can provide a download link if you need but since you don't have more then 2gb of ram it might just make it crash more.

Hold on a second I just took a look at your material volumes and I noticed that your clip is really thin and your death material is really thick.
Having an incredibly thin skybox or clipbox around the map was what was crashing Nivellensem for me, so let me remove the thin material and add back the vanilla material and see if that fixes your problem - Will upload in a few minutes.
