Try a different mirror. If you're on ubuntu you might want to try the PPA.

- Is there a way to edit the FOV ?
/firstpersonfov N .. where N is the field of view in degrees.

- my monitor can not display the default graphic Resolution settings. can i change it to the right Resolution in the data?
Edit init.cfg, which can be found in your Red Eclipse user folder. You are looking for scr_w and scr_h
