Ulukai,
I was working on thicker borders and middle-girth hatch work between them when you posted about the same thing! I thought about geometric borders, initially choosing not to use visible geometry because the team-coloured ones will disappear when modes and mutators don't use them. I remember thinking that it would not rule out the permanent 4 bridges that form an X from the center from some high-contrast, blackish geometric trim, though. Here are close-, medium- and far- distance shots of one of the bridges after the work is completed.
