new map - biolytic [svn repo]

Per arand's suggestion, I thought I'd make a thread about my latest map like many others have done... feel free to throw suggestions at me, or report texture/lighting/etc. errors. Not much else to say, have at it guys. Rip 'er to shreds.

I agree, the map is very dark, and in a few of the screenshots qubodup shared, you can't see anything gbut the weapon and a few lights, and barely any surroundings. However, I enjoy the theme of the map. It looks like a dark, out-of-the-way-super-secret-bio-checmical-production-facility atmosphere to it. I can see why you would want it dark, and I would personally keep it a low-light map as well, but it definitely needs a little brightening, as right now, it's nearly pitch black in most locations.

Regardless, keep up the good work, favorito! I love your maps, so keep doing what you do ;)

The screenshots look good - kind of like a darker version of Testchamber. Reminds me of the Thief series a little bit. You're going to have to post a download link if you want some more detailed feedback - I seriously want to see this map now ;)

Thanks Arand, definitely trying this out later.

EDIT: Just played a deathmatch on it.

Pros - excellent atmosphere, interesting areas, large enough for more players than many maps, looks like Bioshock (not a bad thing).
Cons - I glitched through a wall twice, so you might want to check the geometry. The architecture is nice in some places, but it's a little dull and boxy overall.

I like the hidden window from which you can view the skybox... it's nice :D

If you've got the patience to take screenshots of the offending geometry, I'd really appreciate it.

Sweet, thanks. For all those non-subversion users. Just make sure to not redistribute them separately (or without the txt file). I'm kind of a nut about software licenses. : )

I took just a quick look at your map and I found these errors (see pictures below). But the map generally looks good, especially lights.
I can't rate gameplay, because I didn't try that much, but I guess it will be ok. And I agree that the map is too dark. But the only what
it needs is choose different (brighter) ambient color I suppose.

It doesn't look good. Bricks should be visible at the front wall.

Same as probably all flags are placed in the air instead of being on the surface. Is there any purpose?
Hovering weapons are ok, but not flags I think. It should has fixed position.

These windows are too visible, that it is like there wouldn't be any.
I would use alpha material with high transparency more likely.

There is few more small errors, but mostly they are not so visible, because there is too dark.
Anyway, what I like the most on this map is interesting atmosphere and the shiny green water.
And with these corrections it will be even better in my opinion.

I would prefer it lighter. Making the green slime illuminate more light might be a good way of doing so. It would help in warning players about its deadliness as well.
