Ulukai {l Wrote}:I like the new pics of the improved version of Echo. Much better than the previous modifications and an improvement over the original imo.

Well, that kind of sums up everything I wanted to say. Keep up the good work.

re texturing a sauer map is a big undertaking, using re textures, is there a way to make it simpler?
for example, any clip that refers to a texture and just referance an re texture or is this already done?

I tried that a while ago with the Lunaran set. Here are some results.

All I can tell you is that it's still a lot of work to get it looking not-super-glitchy. You're probably better off just getting Sauer so you can use the assets.

Here's the cfg if you want it. Who knows, it might just be that texturepack that's so hard to find alternates for, the others might be easier.

I have sauer , didnt quite know how to use the package files however. I think its complete sillyness not to be able to use the textures because someone 'might' not like their art being redistributed. with other games, like et , textures were included in the pk3 files, there doesnt seem to be a way to do that with mpz files though, was this intentional?
My goal here was to bring a few sauer maps to re without to much hassle.

co incidentally, i seem to have lost a lot of the standard textures from the editing menu, only shows 15 rows when it was showing 34 rows of textures

Oh yeah. That's my Ender's Game map in zero gravity, with some pushers set to 'additional' to simulate gravity in some places. It's a bit difficult to get used to, but it's an interesting idea and totally different from how most FPSes normally work.
It may be a bit of a gimmick, but I think it's pretty cool.

Also, to use the "package4.cfg" file, rename it to "package.cfg", and put it in pacakges/lunaran (back up your old file first though).

This is a recent update of "Echo". I have put back the tile texture, while making some aesthetic changes, which should make impression of more realistic look, even when the resolution is lower. So it is now very similar as the original version (fans of the old echo are pleased hopefully), but with the corrections and improvements done.

Wow, damien, all those small changes make a big improvement, you definitely did a better job then what I was going for. Maybe could you update the buildings in the background of the map with more detail and gloss / alpha on the windows? would make them look much better.

Thanks. Yes, I know about the background, but depends if quin agrees with this version, so then I would eventually continue on updating this level.

Screenshots of a mangled chessboard makes everyone sad, texture it man. I know RE, and that screenshot tells me very little about the map.

It would be my pleasure! ...but I am waiting for a certain "philipk" set, it was said to appear in the next release... ;)

You could just grab "data/philipk" from SVN and dump it into a 1.3 install.

I've been playing around with the philipK set recently, and I can see a lot of potential for good-looking maps. :)

Here's a retexture of Wet that I made using a few philipK textures to spice things up:

I might try and do Warp next, but it would take a lot more time and I'm not sure how close to the release date I'd be cutting it, so I think I'll wait until after 1.4.

For those looking to get an early start on using the philipk textures, you can grab RE's version from here: http://redeclipse.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/redeclipse/data/philipk/?view=tar

Also, I have to ask that people stop posting their own "re-done" version of other people's maps without first asking the original author. I know the licenses allow you to do so, but there's a higher level of etiquette not being observed that is resulting in a lot of hurt feelings.

Oh.. sorry about that. I guess I still have much to learn about how open-source projects work.
