Reverse trial

Reverse trial

Postby bonifarz » 06 Oct 2012, 19:56

I would like to put this topic here for a simple question.

I find it quite entertaining to play some time tiral maps in reverse, i.e. running from the finish line to the first check point.
The required modifications in edit mode are absolutely trivial, only the checkpoint and teleport entities are changed for this.
In particular, this is interesting where free fall passages turn into climbing challenges, especially in conjunction with grapple-trial (viewtopic.php?f=73&t=3498).

So, back to my question: Do you mind if your maps are played in reverse mode? Is it okay to declare a modified map of yours as such (e.g. reverse_testchamber or reverse_neodrive) and have it played on a server (which is described as game mod server)? If so, is it necessary to give further information about the trivial modifications to the map, or is it okay to leave the map authorship as is?

Thanks for your feedback.

Included maps are CC-BY-SA, so really all you need to do is give credit. Something letting people know the map is playing in reverse might be a good idea though.

Agreed. Thanks for the clarification, Quin.

I got feedback from TristamK that the /mapauthor tag should be changed as well to reflect who modified the content. Thus I append a "(reversed by Boni)" to /mapauthor. "reversed_" prefixes are added to the /mapname and all filenames.
