I'd like to use Red Eclipse in a video

Postby ErikAtMapache » 21 Apr 2013, 18:10

Hello

I've started a new website called StormCel Gaming League (http://StormCel.com) and I'd like to use Red Eclipse in an upcoming video. StormCel Gaming League is a cartoon website and the idea is kind of a cross between WWE, Video Games, and Reality TV. Each episode plays out like a sports competition with the introduction of competing teams, a filming of a featured video game being played, and various commentary by all of the players and announcers (which can become heated depending on who's winning). The website is still a work-in-progress but feel free to check it out.

The license as stated on the Red Eclipse website seems to say it's OK to use it the video, but I'd still like to get in touch with the development team or project owners and make sure it's acceptable to them. I'm asking that a moderator or some other kind soul will post an email address here of someone I can contact (or if they want to post a reply here, that's fine with me).

Thanks for your time.
Enjoy

Hello and thanks for asking before doing so. I don't know all that much about licensing and whether it would be necessary to ask before using RE in a video, but since you''d like to talk the devs first anyway I can at least point you in their direction. ;) The one to talk to would be Quin (or qreeves) as he's the main developer of the game. He reads the forum regularly and usually can be found on IRC. #redeclipse is on the freenode server, or you can use the webchat here: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=redeclipse

If you make any money while using RE, maybe donate some back to the project, haha. Seems harmless enough, thanks for asking. The license of all code and content are free and open source, and I think this fits in with our trademark policy; make sure you let everyone know where to get Red Eclipse from!

Thanks for the quick reply -- I appreciate it. I should have the video done (hopefully) by the beginning of next week. I don't have a lot of cash but I did donate $10.00. Hope this helps.

You didn't have to donate, haha. I just suggested if you start making some money to remember us little guys who helped you :P
