With Valve bringing the 'Steam Box' out, Linux may get the chance to make the gaming big time, see http://www.techradar.com/us/news/gaming/valve-steam-box-what-you-need-to-know-1127072?src=rss and it provides another platform for RE ( and MekArcade, too). Another reason to get RE on Valve.

What do I need in order to submit my game?

You'll need a valid and non-limited Steam account (yes, that means you'll need to own a game on Steam). Then you'll need to fill out the submission form, including some information about you and your game. There's also a one-time $100 submission fee per Steam account. The submission will require:

A square branding image (similar to a box cover) to represent your game in lists and search
At least 1 video showing off your game or presenting your concept
At least 4 screenshots or images
A written description of the game along with the tentative system requirements.

Most of these won't be a problem, except the $100 submission fee. And even then, this doesn't mean that it gets approved (we need enough community votes).
To add to this all, it isn't clear what VALVe will do with free games, as they say that they'll "work out a pricing with you".

Maybe it would be more useful to send an e-mail to VALVe first, possibly with things like the Microsoft IntelliRoom (or whatever it was named) trailer to show that this is a serious question, as right now, Red Eclipse does not seem to be having anything which can be sold, with the exception of the new player icons we have (we could give everyone who buys it on Steam the "supporter" icon, but that's quite a small reward).

TF2 has hats. RE can go with custom codpieces.

We looked at issues involved in getting RE onto valve here: http://forum.freegamedev.net/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=3943&p=39986&hilit=valve#p39986 and essentially there didn't seem to be any big sticking points, the main things I wanted to make sure were:
The game could remain FOSS - yes
The game could still be distributed through other channels freely - yes
How much do valve take - 30%
Can the game be free, but you charge for extra content - yes

So a working business model would be do distribute the game free and charge for additional content. When Quin feels its time to get onto Steam then he should certainly talk with them about this, and show off all the goodies, and as you point out, show off the use of it by Illumiview (or whatever it is called). Teamxbow would be happy to provide the $100 whwnit's time.

To my mind the Steam Box coming out this opens up further opputunities, because there is'nt going to be that many games available intially even with Valves best effort at porting, so something like RE could be attractive, not just to the players but perhaps to Valve.

Everyone is asking the same question, everywhere a game is being made. I do have plans for Steam, but no yet, let the novelty of Greenlight wear off for everyone, then we can do some serious promotion without getting drowned out by the sea of voices asking for endorsement.

No, its all arse around.

Quin doesn't take RE as a poor little game developer who begs, please please Mr Valve, can I put my game on steam? No, No, No!

Quin says, I have RE, the easiest way to produce new and unique games for your soon to be released steam box, and start the conversation from there. You would have to work up some ideas, you might pick titles that would fill holes in their release catalog. You would have to decide want you want, access to art assets, $$$$ even. Imagine having access to all their models!

The initial relase of native games for the linux client was pretty awful, they must have a lot more for the actual boxes release. They must be porting like mad. A few unique and new titles would help.
