Replacement Font

I find the current RE ingame font a little boring; I would like it to be more stylized and futuristic, but not overly so (then it would be unreadable).

I am aware of our licensing issues and so I search on Google Webfonts.

I have searched through a LOT of fonts, and the one most promising so far seems to be Aldrich:
http://www.google.com/webfonts/specimen/Aldrich

I think this would look great ingame, and if someone could tell me how to test it out I would show you guys how it looks.
Please tell me what you think, and if you have any more recommendations.

It is a nice font, but one large problem with it compared to play http://www.google.com/webfonts/specimen/Play is that it has a much more limited range of glyphs, for example no chryllic(sp?) Letters, and I do think a few in the community are using them...

It is hard to find a font which has a futuristic wibe AND has a large set of glyphs, unfortunately.

Xonotic's Xolonium font anyone?

I think Aldrich is a better font for RE than both Play and Xolonium, though.
Even better (in my opinion) would be a font similar to the one used in the menus of Halo 3 used in RE. It would be great for the overall feel (IMO, again).

Do you think we could contact the author at mattdesmond@gmail.com ? I am not the best at formal writing though, and even though he may not say yes, it is worth a try.

No need! It's licensed under the SIL's Open Font License, version 1.1. One concern though is support for the Cyrillic and Greek alphabets and various diacritics of Latin.

This is what I wanted us to contact him about.

A full set of unicode characters would definitely be necessary, this is why we had to ditch Akashi in favour of Play.
