Unless you spend 1 year or more on map editing, (or just happen to be a natural artist) you probably will never, EVER, get any content into the official game. I know I won't ever have a map featured in RE. I'm not an artist. I never will be. I don't have the... uh... whatever-it-is needed to make something truly outstanding, and I don't have the time to learn to find the whatever-it-is.
Don't be so hard on yourself, dude!
Yes, editing takes time to master, and yes, making a good map requires a LOT of attention to detail, and yes, there's a lot of competition and high standards, but don't let it discourage you.
The main reason to make maps is because you enjoy it. Just like any kind of art: painting, music, you name it. Because it is a lot of fun to make maps, to imagine fantastic places to have a game of Bomber-Ball on and to make them come to life in the editor. So especially when you're starting out, it's vitally important that you make maps
for yourselfprimarily, and that way you get a good feel for the editor.
If you want to make maps that are useful to the community, remember: it's a cumulative effort, not a competition. Ask yourself, "How can I help?" rather than "How can I get famous?" (somewhat similar to JFK's famous saying). Or, as I like to think of it, the community's more
this than
this.
Also, just remember, every contribution is important, and you can never have too many maps.
