Hello guys, Im new in this forum and this is the first forum than I care to enter, because no games can match the job of these developers. Congratz guys! You all rock's Im a player of sauerbraten, have one year. Amazing fun game. Last week i saw the red eclipse commercial video on ogros.org site and I downloaded and played the game. Well the game is awesome, so much than I came to my first forum participation. I would like to post my opinion about the music: I guess It can be better, I dont want to seem idealistic about musics, but perhaps than the red eclipse music is away from context of the game. I guess the metal like sauer with a touch of future can be more tasteful you knows, an energic shot game need to be temperated with an energic music, more dynamic. But that, my dear godlike programmers, is my opinion and suggest. Im only a player, but maybe it can give an extra spice to that awesome game. Thanks for the fun, and for the space on the Forum.

Same here. I'm a huge fan of heavy metal, and I loved Fanatic's music (especially for the CTF edition), but even that got old after a few months. The music for Red Eclipse is alright, but it's way too mellow for a fast-paced twitch shooter where ninja cyborgs fight to the death.

Your best solution is probably Pandora Radio. (or Last.fm if your country doesn't have access). From what you described (intense metal soundtrack with a touch of futuristic), I'd recommend making a station with Jeff Loomis, Animals as Leaders, and Two Steps from Hell, but you can add whatever kinds of music you like.

One great thing about Red Eclipse is that if you hear a song you don't like, you can use

bind P [if (= $fullscreen 1) [fullscreen 0; mousabsolute 1] [fullscreen 1]

(write it down and type it ingame using "/", or add it to your "config.cfg" file)

and use the P key to switch from fullscreen to windowed mode. When you want to do something else like change a song, just wait until you get fragged (or go into spectator mode), type P, and minimize the window. Then, when you're done, unminimize the window and press P again to go back to fullscreen.

Nice idea, the full screen toggle. I would like to note that you can use /music to randomly pick another track of the in-game music, which i think is not documented on the wiki. The topic here also reminds me of this one viewtopic.php?t=1475

I remember there has been a great custom music player script for Sauerbraten by viruz that could play .ogg. Maybe something like this for RE would eliminate your complaints, since you could music that you personally like.
