Poll: Does my name sound stupid (and how to change it?)

Greasers are cool. Pirates are cool. But no matter how awesome a captain crusin' the seven seas with a name like Captain Jack Ponybeard Sparrow Curtis would be, I've come to the conclusion that the username "Greaserpirate" sounds really dumb. It helps that I through of it in 7th grade, and it's kind of an inside joke.

I was watching Fight Club in Russian when I came across the word «Разгром» (Razgrom), which means "downfall", "destruction," or "mayhem" (as in "Project Mayhem"). I think it's a totally rad name, and I've been using it in Red Eclipse for at least a month now. (It would also be a great name for a metal band). It's also a good icebreaker for conversations with Russians playing Red Eclipse (best way to study a language!).

Also, is there any way to change the name of an existing account, or should I create another account?

P.S.: Sweet username I'm throwing out to all of you for free: Rad Rackham. (A play on words on Red Rackham's Treasure, a Tintin comic). It goes with the "pirate" theme and somewhat with the "greaser" one (off by a couple decades but who cares). But at this point two names is enough; whoever claims it first can have it.

Haha I agree My nick comes from an old video game called Outcast. The name in an alien language they gave someone who crashed on their planet. They thought them to be the Messiah. It kinda stuck to me, dunno why and I'm using it for over 10 years now. If I could start over again, I would choose another one too, but it kinda defines the past an dpeople know you that way...

I chose my username when I was just getting into videogames and never am going to change it. I picked the word wow (Like... WOW! THAT WAS AMAZING/IDIOTIC/<ADJECTIVE>/WHATEVER!)and then added ie to the end because... I don't remember, actually . What's in a name? Quite a lot, actually. I quite like your name for the same reason everyone else here does: It's silly and nonsensical. "Mayhem/destruction/downfall" sounds ike something an immature CoD player would use as a nick, because he's trying to sound all cool and such to impress his 1337 buddies. Oh, and fix your poll. I couldn't find the option that said "lol really!? greaserpirate is awesome!" on it.

Well, name choice is always subjective. Personally, I agree with you, it does sound a bit wierd, but it is unique, and on the Internets, being unique (and not offensive at the same time) is a rare thing I like Razgrom as much as I like greaserpirate, your choice.

I used the name Iridium a loooooong time ago for hotwheels stuff, because I think it was the name of a car or something I never liked it THAT much though.

I used to be one of those people who have a bazillion different usernames for everything, but now I'm collecting it all together to have just 2 or 3 - just changed my name to my main one that I use for QL (and some other stuff) - get it?

My nick was come from game Neverwinter Night . I generate that in generator . Tristam.. why not ? :P . And after 1 year i add "K" as a reduction of my surname or the name .
If you use Greaserpirate a long time - continue use it . Razgrom (Разгром) don't hear so nice for all who speak Russian . That hear like Уничтожение (Uni4tozenie or Unichtozenie), разрушение (Razrushenie) ect .(on ENG : destruction , annihilation) Maybe that hear epic , but isn't for russian . That my opinion . Maybe this my tastes . Idk .

Wow, I didn't expect so much positive support on this. I was feeling really self-concious about the name Greaserpirate, but now I think I'm going to keep it. I might still keep the name Razgrom, but you'll definitely see me online more often as Greaserpirate. (If you see both, it means I'm hosting a mini-LAN party; Greaser's most likely the real me.)

They do roll of the tounge much easier; I guess that's why I like Razgrom tho because it's hard to say without enunciating a lot (like "cthulu" or the name for the soft sign ь: Myakiznak. I LOVE how that word sounds. ) уничтожение and разрушение still do sounds cool, but they're a bit long, and I've heard them used in regular speech. IMO the cooler names come from phrases you don't hear too often; like how "NefariousBob" or "SinisterBob" are cooler names than "EvilBob".

I'd stick with Greaserpirate, it's easy and simple. Plus "Razgrom" reminds me way too much of RazGriz from Quadropolis.

Nice to have a thread discussing where our nicks came from. Honestly, there's not much to mines. Inpersona64 comes from the two words "in" and "persona" because when i'm online I feel as if i'm playing a 'persona' of sorts. The "64" is for a number of reasons. I support 64-bit operating systems, 64 is my favorite number lol, and i wanted the N64 before the PS1, but i ended up with the PS1, and i'm glad i did too

As of late, most have seen me use a shorter handle (Sona64). This is because its shorter and easier to say. In-per-sona just seemed a bit too long and alotta people said it wrong most of the time anyway. I had been using inpersona for the last 8 or so years and i think that changing your nickname should only be done if you feel like your nickname doesn't really capture or describe you well anymore. For example, when you're 12, "ButtonKitty143" sounds cute, but lets say you use the same nick for over 15 or so years. It doesn't really seem all that mature once you're in your 30s. I think it all comes down to personal preference really.

Hey, my nick comes from an old japanese shoot em up (shmup) from Seibu kaihatsu. This game brought me closer into the genre and showed me to love it. Especialy the newer bullet hell shooter from Cave (Dodonpachi-series) promise me well. I know, there is also the Raiden from Mortal combat, a random plus.
Besides that I use rez, from time to time, also coming from a totally different cyberspace shooter, released for several consoles in the past. I wanted to have another name, in order to be not asked for the status of my last map, to play only without any thoughts.
(the side c:dos has an abandonware version of raiden 2, playable on windows- maybe someone could find it interesting too - I think in the usa it's legal to download, but I don't want to link here directly- google helps)
