Red Eclipse on the mac appstore

Red Eclipse on the mac appstore

Postby gplgaming » 14 Feb 2012, 20:22

This is just a random consideration. I have a mac appstore developer account, which allows me to submit apps to the mac appstore. Would the RE team consider putting RE on the mac appstore? As free or paid download? It would be a good way to promote RE. The mac appstore is not incompatible with the GPL/CC-BY-SA, there's several applications on the mac appstore which are GPL licensed. What do you all think?

RE is not GPL, it is Zlib and CC-BY[-SA]. I'm also not comfortable with the idea of someone else pushing out "official" packages, over the years I've found that the only person I can rely on is myself. When you're no longer around, who'd update the package each release? If you make it a paid app, who'd collect the revenue? It is too much of a grey-area situation to risk. Your interest is appreciated though.
