SERVER OWNERS

if you have your server setup so only you can change variables then I am going to ask one time and one time only, make it so I can have admin. I have been playing this game for almost 3 years and I have put a lot of time into the community. I don't get to play as often as I'd like but when I do I want to be able to make adjustments as I see fit. I often get players more interested by showing them what the game is capable of. So, please, make it happen guys. I don't want to be a grouchy old man.

Agreed. Admins messing with variables are fun.

Lol. Yeah sometimes, with the wrong combination of variables, just makes people like me want to leave the server, which is what i usually end up doing. I guess certain tweaks, like for example the size of the players, I can deal with. But in all honesty, if i wanted to play a slower paced Red Eclipse, I'd play a different game. IDK. I just like playing with normal variables because that's always been Red Eclipse to me.

Hold on now, one of us seems to have misinterpreted the froggies' comments. Probably me, so I'll elaborate.
I don't agree that just because you've been with the community for a long time, that should automatically give you the right to be able acquire admin on anyone's server and start changing vars all willy nilly.
That comes off as really egotistical.
Now, I am however, all for the insightful education of new players and showing what's possible. Experimenting with Red Eclipse vars myself, and helping a few others with theirs, I do indeed know that you can do a lot with Red Eclipse with variable changes alone. Hell, it could probably even put a dent in the frequency of the very common ridiculous mutator combos.
Anyway, I don't see this being a problem as long as you ask the people who are playing at the time, and don't take a forceful approach. And if the admins don't want you to, then you definitely shouldn't. It is their server(s) after all.
You come off as aggressive in your opening post here. This probably wont give server admins the right "feeling", and would probably be reluctant to do as you wish. If I was running a server, after reading your post as is, there'd be no way I'd give you admin rights. But after I've thought about it for a minute, a compromise like I explained above could be reached. But other admins may not come to that conclusion.
Just my two cents on the matter. Take it or ignore it, up to you.

ok, i see this is going to take some explaining, every time there is a release we have an inflow of new players and people who start up servers, i was around before vars were even part of the game, it is one of the key factors that got me hooked (the gameplay has always been awesome too) being an adult (42) i normally act like one, the way i have implemented a change in vars in the past is usually when nobody is even on the server, if there are players present i politely ask, if they complain after the change i /resetvars and leave, i try to help the community all i can, because if i were to ever endanger the livelihood of the game i am quite sure quin would make it so i could not play, especially because i have been around so long, i think my irritable mood lately was due to not being able to operate in my normal mode, before release i was able to go on any server and enjoy the ability to change the game environment, suddenly i no longer have that, so think about it, if you honestly feel that i should not be able to do that then let me know

Thank you for your explanation. I wasn't trying to come across as trying to say that you weren't asking others, I was just stating it would be a good idea to do so. When I think about it, I do recall a few past occasions of you coming on and asking before making changes. The only changes made were ones that were given the green light.
I can completely understand the irritability. I'm the same way; I hate when my flow is interrupted. I meant no spite in my words, I just wanted to point out that to some, you may have come off somewhat abrasive.
Somewhat irrelevant point, resetvars could do some damage, as some servers have custom variables and settings. Granted, server admins should be keeping these changes in a config anyway, it's just something to keep in mind. I believe you and I said something about that in a separate, recent thread.
