lagging deaths and pickups

Hi there!
I'm here to report my problems when I play this game on-line, since version 1.0:

- I always kill an enemy with a 3-4 seconds of delay: after killing an enemy, the enemy continues to run, jump and shoot, but he's already dead! ;
- I always pick up a weapon with a 3-4 seconds of delay.

I know this weird apparition is called "LAG", but I never seen such thing in a lot of FPS games that I played like: Open Arena, Urban Terror, Sauerbraten, AssaultCube, Warsow, Nexuiz and more, never seen!
Could someone help me or fix these problems? I believe I'm not the only one to have these problems.
And sorry for my bad English

I think that because you play on the server with high ping

Tristam is right. That sounds a lot like latency problems. It's the reason you would get "hitmarkers" in Instagib (wtf?). I know they've happened to me on numerous occasions and that was because I was pinging 200+.

Yes, the hitmarker is right, but the point is the enemy can shoot me and give me a lot of damage, even if it's always annoying. And yes, I play with 200 ping (I'm European), but I don't have this problem with the other FPS, like Sauerbraten: both games use Cube Engine 2, and there are NO lagging deaths with a 200 ping in Sauerbraten!! Enemies die instantly!

I've got an other problem: I see all the playermodels coloured in grey. In the profile I've notice an option where you can change the colours in hex. Does it works?
---------
Little request: could you add all the crosshairs in the main menu? Setting them via console is really complicated...

A GUI for setting the crosshair is definately on my wishlist for 1.3. Besides that: #9 is something I would love to have in the next version as well.

First, i apologize about my english, and second, i have the same problem u.u'
i think the people that have this problem must post where they play.
I play on a ubuntu-maverick pc with:
-Pentium D (dual core) 2.8 ghz
-3 gb of ddr2 ram
-nvidia gt520 gpu
-i use WIFI to connect to internet and have a 3mb adsl
-i have the graphics to maximun quality, but in low quality i have the same issue, and i have vertical sync disabled
-i dont have this lag issues on other games

plz, post where you play to compare the differences between players with the same problem :3
if you have an option enabled that you think may cause this, post it e.e

(i must get english lessons XDD)

I get this more often the same as you described, i am in europe too (england). I think the reason for this, is that most of RE server's seem to be hosted in australia and/or america, as opposed to sauerbraten having a majority of servers in europe (germany for example). Even with a low ping, when playing on a server on the otherside of the globe you might end up with jitter which makes your ping jump around alot.

If you play with shaders enabled in the gfx menu, playermodels in instagib should be grey with a tint/highlight of the colour chosen in their profile. However if you play with shaders disabled (like me) they do appear to be completely grey. Maybe post about it on this 1.3 wishlist thread as a feature request?

This is a technological limitation, the use of masks to show two different colours requires shaders.

Maybe use a fallback with some color "baked" on a separate skin to use when shaders are disabled? Similar to how you can already specify are replacement skin with baked normals to use if bumpmapping is disabled.

You don't understand, it is either apply a single colour to the entire model, or have none at all. You can't use the masks without shaders.
