Alternative weapon sounds

I'm working on some alternative weapon sounds, mainly for the rifle, smg and plasma gun. The rifle sound is ready for testing already. It's pretty powerful now, and I hope not too loud and annoying.

Here are the alternative plasma sounds. The three primary sounds are the same, I only put them into the zip archive so that you can easily replace the old sounds. Don't forget to make a backup of the old sounds first.

Hmm, for the rifle sound, do I just replace all the primary sounds like I did with the plasma sounds?

yea, just rename primary2.ogg to primary2.ogg.bak then rename Rifleprimary2.ogg to primary2.ogg and drop it in.

Oh, well I pretty much copied the sound several times, matched the names up, the swapped all the primary and secondary sounds with the same one. Works fine, no issues with the other sounds, though I think the Pulse Rifle sound from Ratchet and Clank 2 would be more appropriate, so I'll look into that when I'm done procrastinating.

I think plasma 2 should be replaced with the groovitron music while your being sucked into the orb of death.

Sorry to bump this old thread.
I've never done any audio editing/mixing before, and I wanted to give it a try.
You only have the one rifle sound, which I love a lot and STILL use. However, I missed hearing the realism created with the slightly different weapon sounds per shot. So, I loaded up Audacity and played around for an hour or two.
They're nothing special, I played around with the pitch, tempo and speed to create very slight variations in sound, and for the more powerful secondary, I added a slight phaser effect. I like how they sound, but they're not great ^^" Here they are regardless:

pretty good. I never really thought about the gun sounds. If they are so simple to make, i don't want to hear no one complaining about how they sound lol. just change them.
it'd be nice to change my sound to say "WAM!" in a big voice when I get a headshot. If not that, I'll settle for Quake's headshot announcer voice

Edit:
Infact, i think I might just create a zip for people who'd like those sounds in a folder just incase they want to switch over to those sounds..
Edit 2:
Download Custom Kill sounds fr...d Quake.zip http://db.tt/iIzfI8JP

The sounds are from various commercial games, you can't really redistribute them legally.

id love if someone here could test the audio I have for my escape map. There are two different voices at various parts of the map and dynamic music in the last section. Any feedback would be appreciated. The voices and music are temporary (template sounds) but im more worried about the execution of the sounds right now. My roomate is a voice actor so when he gets back in town the voices will be improved, the songs will be much different over time i imagine.

If anyones wondering, the master computers voice was done with a guitar and a vocoder with several pedals and a separate pitch shifted vocal on top of that. The helpers voice was ran though futzbox and i used pink noise and stutter effect for the glitchy sounds. The music was made in reason with a arpegiated subtractor and a beat made with redrum.
Thanks for any feedback. The sounds still have a long way to go but it is ready for some testing.
Heres a video so you can make sure the sound works as intended.

I'm talking about the sound made by Skorpio (not the halo and quake ones).
Skorpio, are there made from scratch (or with Public Domain material) ? And what license do you want to give them ?

Oh yeah, sorry. I only made this pack so that people can listen to their favorite sounds instead of the same old s*** lol. I wasn't submitting the pack to be included in the next RE release. I mean how'd that conversation go down. I can only imagine...
Quin: Who is this
Bungie: Hello, this is Bungie CEO. We have recently realized that you are using our, quote, "Killtacular", unquote, announcer sound in your game. So we have taken it upon us to seize your game. Your game now belongs to us.
Quin: Fuuuuuuu********k!
Bungie: Good day to you too sir. You have nice day now.

Hello.
This might be classified as necroposting, but seeing as this is a thread dedicated to alternative weapon sounds I found this thread fitting. Anyway...
I have created some alternative smg sounds. All of the original sounds have been reworked. They're a mixture of the old sounds and some of my own sfx. So you should be able to hear the original sounds in there.
Simply swap the original smg folder (you can find that folder in the subdirectory called sounds) with the smg folder attached to this message and it should work like a charm.
Please try it out and let me know your thoughts.

You can create a sound mod by creating "sounds/weapons/smg" folders in the Custom Content Directory.
On Windows the game looks in My Documents/ My Games/ Red Eclipse/ to see if there is any modded content. This lets you package mods very easily with no need to overwrite files.
in this case: My Documents/ My Games/ Red Eclipse/ sounds/weapons/smg/primary.ogg < if it exists the game will load it instead of data/sounds/weapons/smg/primary.ogg

I'm a sucker for visual/sound mods for any game, so I immediately downloaded and tried this.
It sounds great, I love it! It primary/secondary sound more mechanical, and the shots sound like they actually have a bite to them, unlike they did with the poppy, dart-gun style sound of the SMG (which isn't a bad sound, it just doesn't fit the SMG IMO).
The only thing I dislike with the sounds is the "notify" sound. It sounds a little..."bubbly". Like, an energetic kind of sound for a laser based weapon; as if it's fuel cell was just replenished. I think if you made that more mechanical sounding, I'd be 100% happy with these sounds :)
Great work!
