Should be discussed here imo.

My suggestion:
A weapon which fires an electric bold which stunns enemies & pulls them to you like a lasso?

This weapon would also need a secondary:
Whip with damage & hitpush.

With power (needs to be charged some time like the plasma-secondary)
Power defines the "Degree".
Full Power -> 360° Whip
Half Power -> 180° Whip

My suggestion after getting Sanctum gifted by a friend and noticing how awesome the Freeze Gun in that game is (not forgetting the fact that the Plasma Rifle already looks a lot like a freeze gun).

Name: Stunner
Primary fire: Stunning bolt that has to be aimed and takes a few seconds until it can be reused (think: Rifle Primary Fire). Freezes the enemy on their place for 2 seconds (in which time their stamina and health won't recover) and can be reused after 3 seconds. Being hit by this attack also cancels wallrunning and wallclimbing, causing you to fall down if you're busy doing that.
Secondary fire: Fires a yellow bolt (Plasma Gun style) that slows everyone caught into it down by a lot (50%?, try /gamespeed 50 to try out how that feels) for about 5 seconds. Can only be used once every 10 seconds.

(Of course, values will have to be tweaked to what fits best, this is just a general idea. None of the attacks do any damage, making it more of a combo weapon, hit someone -> kill them with something else.)
Hats, Afros, wings and raptor feet. This game is showing progress indeed.

This idea actually reminds me of the thread about the shield weapon we had a while back. The idea, which i thought, was of a weapon that realistically did NO damage at all. It was a weapon that provoked use of another weapon, sort of like a side weapon. This weapon could be used in a similar way, though I'd love to hear other opinions on it. The most interesting thing I found in this weapon is the fact that it changes one person's particular gamespeed. Is that possible with weapons?

There already is a command built into the game that changes the gamespeed. At the moment there is no code for a weapon to do so as far as I'm aware, but it shouldn't be an impossible task. The hardest part would be to get it to only affect one person I would suppose. If the no damage turns out as a bad idea, it could always become a low amount of damage, but I don't think it should do a lot of damage as it already has its power somewhere else.

I think one needs to be very careful with "disabling" effects in weapons. Completely freezing someone, regardless of how short the period, is comparable to forcing game hangs, which I don't think wold be fun even if it is a game mechanic. "Oh, I cant do anything now, fun", is something to be avoided.

Hence I'm strongly opposing freezing, and also for similar reasons mildly opposing slowing players as a common occurrence via a weapon.

Random (crappy) ideas not affecting movement:
  • freeze/weakening effect makes other weapons (except fire?) make more damage, i.e. it's a support weapon, freezer+pistol is more effective than freezer alone
  • Chain lightning which jumps if second opponent is less than a certain distance from opponent being fired at
  • Lightning beam not interrupted by opponents, (...not by walls?), still range limited.
  • Beams of lightning extending in multiple directions from gun (half cirlce? secondary fire candidate?)
  • Cloaking field/other fancy non-combat ability for secondary fire (may go against the ability-sparse style of RE?).

How about a Scorpion-style grappling hook? There was already a grappling hook mod for Sauer, and with negative hitpush the "grab enemies and pull them toward you" effect shouldn't be too hard.
