Can you reproduce these bugs?

Can you reproduce these bugs?

Postby kr1egsgott » 11 Dec 2011, 22:09

Sorry I didn't use the Bugtracker for this.
I just played about 45min of SVN R3183 and tripped over several conspicuities.

Could cou please check if you can reproduce the following issues:

-> Turning off music does not work, see screenshot: http://mictes.de/games/redeclipse/screenshot.0001.png
-> Radar does not work, booth radarstyle 1 & radarstyle 2 (just blank space)

(Maybee not bugs:)

-> Flying around in spec-mode has gone
-> superjump (ctrl + space) has gone
-> Kick (Q) does not work: wallrunning is okay but kicking does only work after double-jump and does no (?) damage.

Tested on Orbidals SVN Server with multiple game-modes and mutators

A few things to notice:
- The first screenshot looks strange, have you recompiled the client if you're not using windows? This could also explain the second bug.
- Powerjump works differently in the SVN, you need to powerslide and then release spacebar while holding C. You aim your powerjump with the mouse. I still don't like this change and I believe powerjumping became useless, but oh well...
- Orbitals SVN server is often outdated, as it only updates once a day. Please try to test bugs with offline practice, as mismatching client and server versions can cause strange issues.
Hats, Afros, wings and raptor feet. This game is showing progress indeed.

I have this issues in offline-mode, too.
I redownloaded svn and did clean install/compile.
I'm using kubuntu 11.10

Did I get it right that at least you don't have this issues?
With the same Revision?

  • Turning music down to 0 works as expected for me.
  • Radarstyle 1 and 2 seems to work exactly as expected for me (I can't see any diff between 0 and 1, but that's another matter).
  • Free camera is still in SVN as usual, press mouse3 to switch between TV and freecam, and use mousewheel in freecam to focus on players.
  • As noted, powerjumping is now directional (aim-wise) and can only be done whilst halfway into a powerslide, calling it "impulse-launching" might be more illustrative (it is very timing-critical, needs some practice; I prefer this version hugely over the old one :)).
  • Kicking has been modified in SVN to only work when impulsing at the same time.
I think that covers all your issues?
Make sure the config files and/or data are not leftovers from older versions.

This was tested on r3180

Hmm, regarding the radar, it seem you were indeed correct there, heh.
Quin disabled the radar for spectv in the r3180->r3183 commits, and seems to have disabled them in normal game mode as well by mistake :) (likely fixed shortly).

The rest of the issues I still don't have any problems with on r3183.

Yeah as thelastproject stated above, I found it having a hard time doing this and found much difficulty trying to make use of it (against bots, cause I was bored :P). Maybe it's just somewhat of a curve to me; oh well I'll just get used to it.
