SuperTux built-in level editor tutorials (from YouTube)

So I've decided to look at YT for tutorials for ST's level editor and here I'll be posting links to the ones I've found useful. @Mods I'd be glad if it gets pinned as it may be useful for new level makers, especially since Wiki is outdated on the subject matter (both Editor Guide and Editor FAQ refer to old editor there).

Not putting these as embeds because I'm conscious of the bandwidth of the unfortunate people who have to live in the USA and deal with Comrizon&T BS (YT HTML5 player is kinda heavy), but feel free to check these out.

And Oliver, I know you're here and you'll most likely check this thread, please if you are to record more tutorials, change language to English, at least for the recording (I don't really care what language you play ST normally in), you'll do everyone a favor. Like it or not, English is becoming world's "universal language," even beating Chinese in China in some areas, especially tech-related. I don't like it either, but it's a fact.

Note regarding the tutorials: There are many 0.1.3 tutorials on YT, but I didn't put them here as they may contain outdated info and are potentially confusing because of that. Looked specifically of 0.5 tutorials.

darkhog, thanks for collecting these quite useful resources for people wanting to start level editing.

However, I don't believe the forum is the right place for this. This should be added to the new wiki, via https://github.com/SuperTux/wiki. Pull requests are welcome from everyone!

Is Github the best place to create a wiki? Sure, it offers a lot of possibilities, but won't it cost a monthly fee for everyone who wants to contribute? This will keep trolls away, but also will reduce the amount of contributors. How should it work?

Afaik GH wiki is free. I certainly didn't paid Github a cent and contributed to wikis on Github for various projects, most notably TIC-80. Anyway, feel free to add these. I've thought the wiki was editable for anyone with a github account (TIC-80 wiki is set up this way), the way it's set up now... too lazy to do PRs.

It indeed does not cost us anything. It's set up to require pull requests because we want to avoid badly edited content or trolls (a lot of this showed up in the old wiki).

Relying on GitHub, even still being a single point of failure, seems to be better than relying on a MediaWiki instance hosted on a server set up and paid by a person we don't even know a name or email address of. We're assuming it could be down tomorrow (which we don't assume for GitHub).

To be honest, that doesn't seem to be true. It rather limits the features of the wiki. And our PR system isn't exactly nice for new wiki contributors either.

Doesn't GH offer blacklisting bad actors from wiki editing? If so this could be used to fight vandals - keep it open for anyone but ban those who abuse the privilege.

That is extremely inflexible. It's either repository- or organization-wide, not wiki-only. Also, GitHub's online editor (for source code as well as wikis) and git frontend is extremely bad and encourages bad git usage.

I've added this: https://github.com/SuperTux/supertux/wiki/Level-Editor (https://github.com/SuperTux/wiki/commit/3228daa747221755f51e827ffeec2a0298dcecbd, Edit: also, I dropped the out-of-date Editor FAQ and Guide pages)

Also, just have to ask: Any reason you omitted my advanced tutorial? I know it sucks, but so does the basic one.
