Postby alewtsao » 18 Dec 2016, 07:54

after the in-game level editor released,I finally can make some supertux levels by myself, but i got some problem on making my custom style moving platforms and rising lava, after I created a new tilemap and resized it,i have no idea of how to make them placed in right place and make some nodes for they to move, should i use "platform" object to do this?or other function I don't understand how to use?(like script)

You should probably post in the Supertux forum. I don't know enough to answer the question unfortunately.

Looks like I'm pretty late for this.. but..

step1.PNG

Go to Objects > Ambient. Then click on this button shown above.

Once you clicked on that button, click anywhere on the level again to make the tilemap. It should appear near the bottom-left corner.

step3.PNG
Now right-click on the tilemap button that you just made in the bottom left, then enable "Following Path."

step4.PNG
Now, enable "Solid" and set the height and width of your platform. I want a 1x4 platform, so that is what I've set them to.

step5.PNG
This step is very important. Give your platform a UNIQUE name, make sure there isn't anything else in the level with the same name. Even between sectors, platforms must have a unique name... i think so, anyway.

Now you can click OK at the bottom of the little window. Now click on the tilemap you just modified. If you're not sure which one it is, a list of information will show when hovering over each tilemap. Click on the one that has the name you have recently assigned to one. The shape of the platform will be at the top-left corner of the level.

Now go back to the right-side of the editor and select this arrow thing.

step8.PNG

Now go back to the top-left corner of the level again, and drag the gray square with your mouse to where you want the platform to be.

Now you can fill in your platform with almost any block. What's important is that it cannot be a block that can be broken, such as a brick. Why? I'm not too sure. So just stick to a solid block.

While filling in your platform, the gray square might've disappeared. Don't worry, you can make it reappear by selecting the arrow tool in Objects > Ambient and then clicking on the platform's tilemap on the bottom of the screen.

Now select the script tool and click where you want the platform to start moving.

You can resize the script thing by dragging with any of the arrows around the script. If they disappear, go to the right side of the screen and click on the mouse button, then click on the script trigger you placed. So, when Tux touches the trigger (which will be hidden when played), the script inside immediately starts.

step13.PNG
Now right click on the trigger and click on "script." The picture above shows you what code to write.

Now select the arrow tool again and click on the tilemap for the gray box to show up again. Now click on it, then click where you want the platform to go.

Now right-click on the gray triangle and you will be shown this window. Set the time to how long you want the platform to go from the gray triangle to the gray box.

And you're all done! Click on the wrench near the top-right corner and click Save, because that was a long tutorial. Now test the level and see how it goes! :D
