World The Big Island - By Jojo

Hello!
My name is Jojo
I'm new to this forum, I'm Portuguese and I've played Super Tux since I was a child.
So I decided to create levels.
I created 3 worlds united each containing:
21 Levels of Iceland, 27 Levels of the Forest and 16 Levels of Ghostforest.
If you are unsure how to pass the levels, someone is wrong or are very difficult, let me know through this post.

I'm just starting to play your add-on and noticed that rustle.wav is missing. I'll report back with more issues as I find them :)

aside from some music bugs, due to me playing an outdated version, and a few tiling errors, (that cave level should have finished wall tiling at the entrance) this is great!

I just finished your worldmap. Wow, this must have been a lot of work! You did a great job at capturing the spirit of the official levels: You could take a level from this worldmap and put it in the story mode and nobody would notice. The levels look beautiful and you chose the music very well. I liked the story with the ghosttree and that you walk the forest map in a circle. That the ghosstree turned the forest into a rotten place would have been more convincing if the rotten levels were different versions of their vivid counterparts. But then it would be boring to play a level twice. Something in between would be best. I also liked the minigame level (“X seconds to do something”).

Some issues I noticed:

1. The top parts of some levels don’t have a background or a different background than the rest.
2. Castle of ghosts is cropped on my 1600×900 screen because the level is not as wide as my screen.
3. The tilemap covering the secret lever in Into the Night reappears too quickly. It’s common practice to not hide a secret area again after you discovered it.

4. Please remove the invisible wall in Crystal Cave. Walls should be visible.
5. When you are in the Airship level at the bottom of the rope climbing section it’s not clear that you can jump through the wall. Just remove the tiles of the non-solid part.
6. CRITICAL: In Frozen Castle is a unfinished part:

7. Frozen Castle is marked as complete as soon as you enter it.
8. There appears to be a level missing on the forest map:

9. In Contracurrent you only get one chance of getting over the river. Most players (including me) play slower when they don’t know the level – too slow to get over the river:

10. Remove this light “thing”. It just causes lag and does not add something gameplay-wise.

11. I was able to collect the fire key before the cut scene with the ghosttree played. This looks like an oversight on the worldmap:

12. This part in The big towers was very annoying. When you use a moving platform you should ask yourself if it really is an improvement to the level. Often, moving platforms force the player to wait or they move in an unexpected pattern:

13. In the credits the game tries to load thebigisland_logo.png but your addon only contains TheBigIsland_logo.png. Maybe this was not an issue for you because your operating system reads files names case-insensitively.
14. I needed to finish the level Light and Magic twice. It autostarted from the previous level but it did not count as complete.

When you are on the ghostforest map you cannot sail back to Antarctica. How about adding a message like: “Dark magic prevents you from escaping the island.”

Thank you for spreading the errors.
I have already corrected most errors.

The key part I think is not careless, because the paths starting at alpha 0, tux cannot walk on it (or I'm not seeing how to hide the path and then it appears).

The changes you made look good. But in Contracurrent you forget to move the spawnpoint back to the beginning of the level :D And there are still some issues left:

15. The script in Icecrusher and Krosh that moves the camera should only be executed once.
16. Castle_scene.stl and Frozen Castle.stl load stuff from the “The big Island” directory. Change this to “The Big Island”.

When you are done, don’t forget to edit your post so that new people don’t need to scroll down to find your updated addon.

About the key part: I forgot that SuperTux doesn’t yet have a proper way of enabling hidden paths. You can see me struggle on this issue.

I think the errors are already fixed (except the forest map, on the path where the hidden keys are).
The zip with everything fixed is in the first post of this topic (The_Big_Island-Adjusted-3).

Hello JoJo,

before I add your world: What license do you want your world to be under? Most worlds are licensed under GPL 2+ / CC BY-SA which requires people who modify the world to attribute you and publish their world under the same license.

Are you okay with this?
