Tux's arms and legs look way too shiny compared to the rest of the body, also, his arms turn from big to small, his feet are too light yellow compared to his beak, in the fourth picture, tux's belly is bigger, Also, Tux's legs look like he is skinny. His legs should have a black outline. Some parts of Tux's body have unnecessary shading. Thats all i could say. Not the best but not the worst ;) (look at the picture)

Alzter {l Wrote}:How to use: Download the ZIP file, Unzip it, Place the data folder into the SuperTux directory, Overwrite Files and Merge Folders.

The thing is: the ZIP file is empty.

Daily Progress.
Got a drawing tablet and boy it does wonders.
Copied the style pretty well, I'd say.
Feedback?

Wow! I’m so excited to see this in action. Tux looks now really evil. This time we have an actual candidate to replace the default sprites.
I made a worldmap, see “Puzzles or Platforms?

I am not that kind of a person which hates every single thing other people make, but here are a few things you should take notes of. If the buttjump starting does get an animation, the buttjump would be pretty much the same as mario's ground pound (you probably couldn't "cancel" the buttjump). By the way, the direction tux faces in "buttjump-2.png" is not the same as the original "buttjump-0.png" (i really cant imagine "front facing" tux).

I was thinking Tux continues moving while he starts up his buttjump, and it gains power depending on your fall speed, making it momentum based.
That'd differentiate it to the instant speed of the ground pound.
Maybe if you hit the ground really hard you bounce up really high too?

I kinda like it. It's kinda inspired by the Yoshi's island ground pound pose.
Don't you get sick of all of Tux's animations being from the exact same angle?
What exactly is wrong with the new angle?

Hey Alzter,

the left "hand" of Tux should move a little lower when butt-jumping. Looking closely, it looks like it's stuck in one place mostly.

But other than that: Good job! I really like it.

Forest World Tiles

Postby Alzter » 19 May 2018, 13:58

What if I got the forest world tiles... And made them look better? (Better in my opinion)

They have more consistency to things like darksnow. I'll make the top turn into dirt, cause grass doesn't grow on rocks.
Noticed in the forest tileset there's a lot of duplicates of tiles. Someone should fix that btw.

It looks a lot better. The brown seems a bit dark though (it looks a lot like the halloween tiles) maybe it could be a bit brighter or more reddish (like in the original tiles).

How is the progress with the buttjump animation? If you're done, you should put together all the graphics and send them to us.

Stuff

Postby Alzter » 28 May 2018, 08:45

I might also re-sprite Penny and Nolok.
Nolok's game sprite is misinterpreted from his statue. It should probably look like Grumbel's mockup.
Nolok incorrect.png

I also did my own take on Nolok and had an idea for a mini-boss.
Nolok comes onscreen rolling a big snowball. Nolok then uses his magic wand to make it alive (like a giant snowball badguy), Nolok then runs off-screen and Tux has to fight the snowball.

I also think Penny needs a re-sprite, and maybe some new concepts. I mean, she's just a purple coloured, skinnier version of Tux.

I might sprite Nolok (and possibly Penny if I figure out an idea for her), as well as finishing the buttjump (hopefully) soon.

Stay tuned!

Another Nolok sketch! Not as rough though. I tried to refine the proportions this time.
The buttjump is also on the way!

I think he should have atleast have some small legs. He just looks weird without any. And he looks to thin in my opinion.

True, but Tux doesn't have legs either. I'll see if I can make legs work. I'll make Nolok a bit beefier as well.

It's more fluid in shading and I've added a frame.
99% Complete pretty much.

I need to add one more frame and smooth out the animation, then it'll be done.

More art of Nolok. Made it increasingly big.
Tell me which one is best, maybe?
