I really like the sleep animation. The level clear animation should maybe only used after end bosses or so.

Glad you like the animations!
Maybe the "Level Clear" animation should only be used on special occasions,
Like when you clear the world you are in!
World 1: Icy Island
World 2: Forest

OK guys, I've decided to draw some more concepts,
These will include swimming (To improve the current one by suiciwd),
And maybe some BETTER sprites for fire and ice tux.
Ispired by some old concepts by Grumbel (The holy legend worth praising),
in the attachments.

Also, can I just say how BADASS these concepts are?
For Fire Tux, He gets sick (the good way) horns on his back,
And his back goes blazing yellow, along with his stomach.
His body also gets red (like the Fire Tux in Milestone 1)!

And the current fire tux? I am ashamed! Just adding a hat? REALLY?
You could have a sick new design, BUT NO?!?
A HAT?!?

Same goes for Ice Tux, He TURNS INTO FREAKING ICE in the concept.
But instead of that holy bliss in the concept of the ice flower,
THEY AGAIN, ADD A HAT.

I want to make concepts for the concepts of Fire and Ice Tux by Grumbel,
And soon enough, replace the current Fire and Ice tux (THE SORRY EXCUSES)
with some actual TALENT, Animating the concepts by Grumbel.
Any objections? Because I'm doing it.
I think Grumbel's concepts have potential, so that's WHY I'm doing it.

Seriously animators, HATS for Fire and Ice Tux? Really?
Try putting some more effort in guys!

Okay, I'm done Grumblin' like Grumbel.

Oh, and also...
Why did you guys reject the idea of a Power-Meter?
I mean, It's pretty fair, and it would help on hard levels with lots of enemies!
I would like the Power Meter in the game, It would add a bit of originality.
Problem is, I don't know how to code in the game!
Maybe somebody else could code it if they wanted?

BTW, if you don't know what the Power Meter is:
The Power Meter is a meter that only works if you have an element,
Like Fire, Ice, Earth or Air.
When you get the element, doing so will activate the meter.
Doing things like killing BadGuys or collecting coins will make the meter go up.
When it is at it's max, you can unleash a Super move for the current element,
Killing all enemies and draining the meter in the process.

My ideas for super moves:
Fire Tux: Breathe Fire and kill all enemies onscreen
Ice Tux: Freeze all enemies onscreen
Air Tux: Tornado that kills enemies that touch it
Earth Tux: Earthquake killing all enemies onscreen

I will draw concepts of these super moves today, maybe!
Bring back the power meter!

I made a mockup of what the game would look like with a power meter.
Please SuperTux devs, ADD THIS!!

It also uses the design of Fire Tux based on a concept by Grumbel.
As you can see, Fire Tux breathes fire all across the screen,
Killing anything that touches it.
When Tux starts to breathe Fire,
The camera pans right, as if you peeked right,
Leaving room for the fire, showing what mass destruction you make.
I would code this, BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW!
The input is: Down, Down, Down, Up.
Now, with an idea this awesome, why reject it?
It will probably wait 'till Milestone 3 or even 4,
Because it's not the most important thing on the team's to-do list, but still. Neat.

I know I'm not focusing on stuff that's most important like improving the levels,
Or adding big Tux's run animation, But I will do that soon!
Don't worry! Big Tux WILL have a run animation by me! Just wait!

And also, I will add the epic versions of Fire and Ice Tux
(The ones that Grumbel made as a concept) into the actual game soon! ...ish.

It's a blizzard!! When this happens, the camera pans right, like if you peeked right.
And a swarm of hail and fog enters the screen, freezing any BadGuy.
Input: Down, Down, Down, Up

What do you guys think? Good?

As stated in another thread, try to base some of your concepts on penguins rather than human movement. ;)

It's based on how you thought they might swim. Watching any of the myriad of videos on youtube shows real penguins to swim much differently. The feet are barely used, not even really for steering. It's all in the wings and body shape.

nice-looking sprites, but do we really need "super attacks" and power meters? sounds more like an RPG than a platformer.

Good point, but I reckon they would add to the gameplay.
I mean, It's pretty cool. But maybe it should be added a bit later...
We have more important things to do now.

I like these but Fire Tux having spikes makes it seem like he's immune to badguys touching him and might confuse players.

A fair enough point, but is his backside immune?
I think the greater point is that it confuses the the user somewhat as to what the ability/power is.

are you still working on your tux designs? What program do you use? Have you decided to work vector based? What do you think of using blender 3d to generate the sprites?

I use GIMP, I'm not working on Tux designs right now, I do use vector but not for SuperTux, and no, the graphics are not pre-rendered on blender.
