It's quite a complicated suggestion, so I've described how I think it should behave on Pastebin.

I think it'd be cool for puzzles and stuff. Graphics and a .sprite file are attached, but they're basically the already-existing candle sprite with feet.

I like this suggestion. I can implement it, but I'll still wait for other feedback.
Just if you get bored, recolor its shoes to grey, it will look much better. Do you want to know why? It's just because the colour of the shoes will correspond to the colour of the candle. It's not anything that I couldn't do myself, so you don't have to do it.
Just note that the lanterns can have 16777216 colours, not just 8. It's just because of the editor, that allows only 8 coulours, but SuperTux can handle all of them. Never mind, I figured what you mean anyway.
Wait, SuperTux can handle even more lantern colours, but their light is equivalent to some other lanterns' light coulours, but I'll keep this as my secret.
