Title says it all. It would be very useful to have text chat, and IRC is a bit dated.

Since SuperTux is an open-source project, and Discord is proprietary freeware, it might be better to have a Mumble server instead: https://wiki.mumble.info/wiki/Main_Page

Yes, open source things are better, but nothing matches the usability of Discord right now unfortunately. The point of having a Discord in my view is to make it easy to talk with other people than IRC and other chats. I cannot use Matrix anymore because the account system is stupid.

Hmm, as long as it is unofficial, I have no problem with one. Officially, we still have irc and such, and I see no need to switch.
