SuperTux Milestone 1 Nostalgia

SuperTux Milestone 1 Nostalgia

Postby P-Star7 » 16 Mar 2017, 02:53

Hi there! I downloaded the "SuperTux Extra" mod and it reminded me of the old days when I had SuperTux Milestone 1. I even discovered that there is somehow two bonus islands that I missed! Here are some things I liked about it in the old days.

1. Metal Jumpy and Black Mr. Bomb

2. The classic sidescrolling camera

3. The music - for some reason I seem to prefer the old ones to the Milestone 2 and up ones.

4. The sound effects - the "Eggselent" for the egg, the gargle for the fireflower, and the "Whoo!" when you defeat an enemy are hilarious!

5. The ice theme being throughout the game

6. The long IcyIsland

Do you have any more stories about nostalgia for old versions of SuperTux? :D

And the level editor... much simpler and user-friendly. With an included tutorial,

And the graphics were more consistent. Not saying Milestone 1 was perfect, but Milestone 2 is kinda ugly.
Some enemies have a completely different art style to others: (Owl, Stonewall, etc),
Tux has ugly new frames that are edited from old ones rather than being drawn: (Groundpound, Backflip, Ladder)
It's just not very nice.

Well, I'm not to sure how many of the original artists are still around. Also, it seems that they are dependant on community contributions.

Grumbel is around now but doesn't seem to be making any art.

The metal Jumpy is still in the game files.
The old Mr. Bomb is there also, but some of his frames appear to be missing.
