Rate all World 2-Levels

Dear community,

Please take your time and rate all levels of the current second world of SuperTux: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIp ... Q/viewform
Levels with poor results are going to be improved or even removed. Thanks in advance for your help.

Serano

Edit: Sorry for the trouble, fixed the link, should work now.

I did it. There were some other polls for all of SuperTux.

@Serano: What about the castle levels? What are we going to do with their results, because the new castle only uses two new levels. (One normal and one entrance)

Bonus Islands, tweaking for future Worlds, maybe...?

The link was broken, should be working now, again sorry for the trouble. Let the rating begin! :)

I'll probably be rating all of them eventually, but I just wanted to say (since I happened upon the level again) that the underground part of Countercurrent is virtually unplayable at my normal screen brightness. I feel I'd have to give it a low rating for that and that may be misleading, as I fairly like the log-riding idea and it seems like it could be a good level if I could see what I'm doing. Maybe a future version could tone that gimmick down.

For the underground part of Countercurrent, go across the top. It is much easier :)

Thanks, but the problem is it's almost pitch black, I can only barely see a few things if I stand up and squint at my screen so the best I can do is blindly press keys and hope for the best. Or were you saying there's a way to avoid going underground altogether?

EDIT: I attached two quick ideas I tried in the in-game editor (at least I hope I did, the game's file system confuses me). The first is simply increasing the brightness (I set it to a level where I can see the platforms on my screen), though that may make the section as a whole uninteresting. The second is giving Tux a lantern to carry around. Neither intended as a final or good solution.

@Vellidragon This level is going to be removed and replaced by a new level.

Ahh, that works as well. Thanks. Yeah, I just saw the other Forest Island feedback thread that was bumped. I do apologise when I'm not up-to-date on the current state of SuperTux things, I'm never really sure how to best keep up with the project.

No problem. You can try our website, https://supertuxproject.org/, which we've been trying to update more often recently. The best way is certainly IRC, though. See https://github.com/SuperTux/supertux/wiki/IRC; or you can try Matrix via #supertux:matrix.org <https://riot.im/app/#/room/#supertux:matrix.org> (that room is bridged to our IRC channel; for some reason the forum is not able to link to this properly, so remove the <>).

I think all forest levels, as of 0.6.0, are pretty good. But I'm not very good at rating things, especially not between 1 to 10.

Also, the poll is broken. It does not work without Google's proprietary JavaScript. You can't even click the radio buttons. :(

Just stop utilizing broken glitchy mechanics and I'm fine with it

Heh. I agree. I actually hate the building blocks, too. Maybe they should even be removed from the game entirely. Even if they weren't glitchy, they're still unbalanced and are a real death trap. Plus, I find them annoying to use; I don't think they don't add much gameplay value. The game might do fine without them. Building large towers of blocks, which you HAVE TO do in some levels, is a painful and frustrating task.

Yeah, the levels with the building blocks were definitely NOT my favourite ones.

I'd like to have them in the game, but only in one or two levels per world. After they have been introduced far too many levels were build around them.

I'd also like to prevent stupid deaths from environment.

If a solid block falls onto Tux, it should move Tux to the side instead of killing him, or the block itself would move, unless there's a solid wall behind and Tux cannot be moved.

Lanterns are also a kind of solid block, and also will kill Tux, which is stupid, because they are used a lot on some levels.

The same goes for tunnels with low ceiling - big Tux can enter them while crouching, but if Tux stops crouching, he will take damage and become little Tux. In this case, Tux should stop crouching and take damage only when you press Up arrow. It's a simple fix that will not change game mechanics, and will make the game less frustrating.

I also agree with Pelya. Crush deaths are stupid and frustrating. If Tux is stuck in a one block space the game should just force him to crouch.

I also dislike that Tux can be harmed or killed by moving into a space too small for him.

By the way Tux can be killed by moving into an upside-down slope meeting the ground.

Hi pelya! One thing some of us asked recently is if you can add new screenshots that combine with the game version on the Play Store. Your port is for SuperTux 0.5 but the
screenshots belong to Milestone 1...

They're... fine I guess... but they aren't really as good as the forest levels of milestone 2...
Why not re-release those as a bonus addon?
