Anyone know the steps to compile the editor?

Anyone know the steps to compile the editor?

Postby Tlaloc1 » 12 Mar 2016, 22:43

So, I have tried on multiple occasions to compile the editor for Milestone 2, but I haven't been able to compile it all. If someone could tell me the steps, or better yet, a video tutorial.

I assume that you have a compiled supertux-editor.exe, but you can't launch it. Is it this issue or any other issue?

I try to launch the editor, but it doesn't launch and says that I was missing something, after trying yesterday.

As I expected. It may be confusing, but supertux-editor.exe isn't the executable. You have to launch it in mono, well, do you have the mono installed by the way? When you are at it, install an old version of mono, because it's quite buggy on Windows when a newer mono is used. I don't remember what version is fitting enough, it's a version something like 1.2.5 or something like that.

So after you have mono installed, you should launch the editor via a link that should install together with the editor IIRC. If not, you have to create it yourself. Then set the path to:
mono "C:/.../supertux-editor.exe"
Maybe I don't remember it correctly. The three dots stand for the path to the supertux-editor.exe.

So I got Mono, but how do I get it to go tithe the file that I want it to? (Btw, is Mscomctl.ocx missing an error related to Mono? Just asking, because the error says that it is missing Mscomctl.ocx or its dependencies)

I haven't installed SuperTux editor on Windows for a long time, so I'm not sure. If I remember it well, it requires also GTK#. Try installing GTK# and if it still didn't worked, try to find out all dependencies it will tell you. Anyway do you launch the editor via a link or you dirrectly launch the supertux-editor.exe?
