IMO using the earth flower’s invincibility ability to reflect the projectiles makes more sense than fire bullets and fits the theme of a crystal cave better. But what if Tux looses his power-up and is therefore unable to win the boss battle? I suggest that the crystal projectiles don’t hurt Tux but knock him away. The crystal boss is gradually destroying the floor so you need to watch out not to fall into your doom.
I made a worldmap, see “Puzzles or Platforms?

Maybe the throwable stone blocks could deal damage, too, and there be a slow spawner for them?
I like that floor idea, but then there would either need to be dynamically updating tiles to make it look good, or the floor would have to be made of boxes.

OR it could just be another entity. That could work.

Could work, I suppose. Still, it'd have to update its textures as it got destroyed.

What about an entity that already exists?
Maybe the floor could be a constantly shifting mass of special Crystallos that Tux can't crush standing on spikes hidden out of sight? As the flying crystals hit them, the crowd would slowly thin out, and if Tux falls on the spikes, he'd take damage.

Or maybe crates that break when one of the attacks hits them? (3 bricks in one layer, first one normal, second one cracked, and third one about to fall apart, so they don't take one hit to break.)
