Need feedback on hosted forum alternative for SuperTux

As you likely already know these forums are long depreciated and mostly an archive. However as the new freegamedev.net forums don't work that well for hosted forums, we (freegamedev.net admins) therefore didn't want to lock the old forums completely yet.

In the last couple of months the Stunt Rally team did test out our alternative hosted group forums running on Loomio. There forums are more developer oriented, which is also why they run on our sister project f-hub.org and not freegamedev.net.

As spam issues and other problems with these old phpBB forums continue to mount, it is necessary to find an alternative. The best we can offer is the above mentioned Loomio group forums and I took the liberty to create a test one for SuperTux here: https://groups.f-hub.org/supertux/

It would be nice if one of the official SuperTux forum mods could test it (let me know once you registered so that I can promote the account as a owner of that Loomio group) and give some feedback.

I think most of the general player chit-chat has moved to chat (Discord and IRC etc.) these days, so focussing more on developer talk with the forums is probably a good idea. Loomio also has a nice integration with Discord and a few other chat services for notifications.

Bump. If I can't get any feedback I will have to consider these forums abandoned by their original owners. Either way, they will be archived sometimes this year most likely.

Had a look. seems like a pretty limited layout to be honest. when I look at minecraft server forums, i think thats a pretty good benchmark. other than that i think its fine and does the job.

moderator tools however is also important, of which i cant see and have no idea what its about.

discord integration seems like a nice touch

If you can tell me which account name you registered under, I can make you admin on the SuperTux group so that you can have a look at the moderation tools. They are not the greatest, but better than here at least.

Of course a dedicated forum with all the bells and whistles, will be always better than a shared forum that needs to compromise between the different users and use-cases. Loomio is more aimed at organization internal decision making, so it is less suitable as a support forum for the general public for example.

Still have not really received proper feedback, but I am planning to archive these forums by the end of this month as it is getting spammed heavily and I am tired of deleting 30+ spam messages each day.

Installing some kind of captcha during registration is no alternative, is it?

This forum uses a decade plus old phpBB version that I can't upgrade or change anything about.
