Support game

I was thinking of a real time strategy rpg, where you play as sort of a mission control. You support character troops as they move on maps to finish objectives. It is your duty to provide them with relevant field information based on their surroundings, and assist in tactics and strategy (suggest splitting up, guard, hold position, give options and multiple routes). Each character has a similiar but different AI that is relevant to their characters. Through the intro and story dialogue you can learn more about the units, their habits. You cannot control characters, but as a guide you are very much central to the game.

There would be multiple modes in the game, including:

Single player campaign
-roguelike

AND/OR

-story based

Skirmish between yourself and another team (AI, or multiplayer)

In general not a bad idea, but I guess do to unavoidable AI glitches it will be too frustrating to play.

What you are proposing could best be implemented in a "secret service" game. You are in control of a espionage agency and get an objective. You decide where your spies go and provide contacts, information and tools.

Your job could also be to recruit and train spies (costs money, which you got to deserve from your government).

Determining who to send on a mission and what their/his inventory is should also be part of the game.

Unexpected things can happen on missions, in that case the team might need you to provide guidance on how to act.

There are quite a few things which need doing in the intelligence world and there are people who have a full-time job supporting spies.
