Yes, a Linux 64bit version would be nice, but currently not really that urgent.
I haven't totally given up on this, but I am currently thinking of ways to scale this back, e.g. instead of trying to make a full replacement of assets, we could go the way Ufo:Ai did it and slowly turn ya3dag into a FOSS game. However then big style changes are really out of the question like originally proposed.
What could be possible is to just take the Ryzom assets and get them in the game... since they are now available as .iqm. However the characters would probably need some custom iqm loading code as they are a bit segmented due to the way the original game handles customizable characters.
Edit: The .iqm implementation should be able to load animations independently from the rig and mesh, like it is done in Red Eclipse for .iqm. Then loading the converted Ryzom assets should be possible.
