Bug: CC-BY-SA 2.5 license is incompatible with Debian

Hi!

The Creative Commons BY-SA 2.5 license is incompatible with DFSG (Debian Free Software Guidelines) which makes it impossible to package Me & My Shadow for this distribution. I've contacted the author of the Blockletters font which was under this license, who kindly accepted to relicense his work under CC-BY-SA 3.0 which is DFSG compliant. Here is a patch that fixes the Credits.txt file to reflect this change.

fix-licenses.txt
Patch that fixes the license of the Blockletters font which is now CC-BY-SA 3.0
as the previous (CC-BY-SA 2.5) was not DFSG compliant

Hello yann.soubeyrand,

Thanks, I have applied the patch, its in svn rev. 542. ;)
I'm wondering, can an addon in our addon system be licensed under a none DFSG compatible license?
Of course we will try to have the addons licensed under a license like CC0, CC-BY(-SA) (for themes), GNU GPLv3+, etc.

Hum, good question! I don't have the answer yet, I'm going to ask Debian people as I'm not a specialist of these points.

For a list of DFSG compliant licenses, you can have a look at http://wiki.debian.org/DFSGLicenses. The CC0 license isn't listed here but as it is related to public domain I think it's OK and I was told so on IRC.

OK, so there is no official answer to the question but it seems to be OK. An example that was given to me is that Firefox allows to browse non free websites so it should be OK for a game to download non free addons if these addons are not mandatory to play the game. Any way it's better if these addons are free ;-) On IRC they gave me a link for you http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Games/Upstream.
