Hi guys,
I'm interested to translate this nice game in Italian before the release of the version 0.4......may I? :?

An other question: I've downloaded the file "messages.pot" (about 229 strings) from your svn reposity, is it the one right and the last updated?

Please reply,
Thanks. :D

Hello BioHazardX,

First of thank you very much for your interest of helping us. We appreciate that and try to help you as much as we can on the way. :)

Me and My Shadow has a wiki and a wiki page about translation. It isn't complete yet but there is some useful information.

It's possible to translate two different things: GUI (buttons, etc.) and levelpacks (level names and notifications). The most important things to translate are the GUI and tutorial levelpack. They will help a player to play to game and fully understand the gameplay.

GUI translation is done with messages.pot from data/locale directory.
Levelpacks can be translated with data/levelpacks/name/locale/messages.pot.

Hopefully this information has been useful and good luck. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask them here. Thank you. :D

I've almost finished the translation, but I've got some doubts:

- toggle: what does it mean? I can't find a good translation of this word in Italian, please explain me
- prompt: is it like a special command or only a tip?
- toolbox: is it located in the map editor? And I don't know how to use the map editor, the only thing I can do is creating and moving blocks (not shadow or others) and nothing works if I click in the configurations. I suggest to add in the editor a list of commands...

Translation will be ready within this week-end. :!:

Hello BioHazardX,

BioHazardX {l Wrote}:- toggle: what does it mean? I can't find a good translation of this word in Italian, please explain me

I think 'toggle' isn't that clear at all, but I'll try to explain.
Moving blocks have a path they follow, they can be activated by a switch which is configured to 'On'.
To stop a moving block the switch or button should be configured to 'Off'.

In both cases the button or switch will only do one action, either enable (On) the moving block or disable (Off).
The third behaviour is 'Toggle', this will kind of do both On and Off by switching between them.
So if a moving block isn't enabled at the start it can be 'toggled on' by a switch, if the user flicks the switch again it will 'toggle off' the moving block.

BioHazardX {l Wrote}:- prompt: is it like a special command or only a tip?

A prompt is (in this case) a message box that requests input from the user.
When exiting the level editor with the escape button the game will "freeze" and the user is prompted with a "Quit prompt".

BioHazardX {l Wrote}:- toolbox: is it located in the map editor?

Yes it is, when clicking on the add tool in the toolbar whilst in add mode a window will appear with the title toolbox.
Inside that window you can quickly select a block type by clicking on it instead of scrolling through all the blocks.

BioHazardX {l Wrote}:And I don't know how to use the map editor, the only thing I can do is creating and moving blocks (not shadow or others) and nothing works if I click in the configurations. I suggest to add in the editor a list of commands...

The level editor could use some work regarding user friendliness.
But I'm afraid we can't make any big changes for the upcoming V0.4.

BioHazardX {l Wrote}:Translation will be ready within this week-end. :!:

That's great to hear, thank you so much for contributing. :)

P.S. If you've still got questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for your reply, Edward.

Well, from what I understand, toggle on is like "activate" and toggle off is like "deactivate", but with the chance to switch from on/off countless times, right?
Prompt: so is it only an alert message when you have to choose to say yes or no?
Toolbox: well, I'm on Windows XP and when I select "ADD" the window toolbox doesn't appear.......really nothing. I can only change manually the entities by scrolling with the mouse, but no GUI. Is it a bug, maybe?

Thanks.

Hello BioHazardX,

It's great to hear that you're making progress and the translation will be ready so soon. :)

BioHazardX {l Wrote}:Toolbox: well, I'm on Windows XP and when I select "ADD" the window toolbox doesn't appear.......really nothing. I can only change manually the entities by scrolling with the mouse, but no GUI. Is it a bug, maybe?

It seems that you are using 0.3 version. It doesn't have toolbox. Also in 0.3 there is not translation support so you can't actually test the translation in-game. But just very recently we released 0.4 Release Candidate so please check it out. Download the Windows build here. To test your translation, place it.po in data/locale folder. :)

Hi :) ,

I've just finished the Italian Translation (GUI, tutorial and levelpacks are done at 100%). There was also an issue in Poedit: after saving a file it gives me an error message like "ID-project version has still got an initial value", so I'll edit a string, changing from "Project-Id-Version: PACKAGES\n" to "Project-Id-Version: meandmyshadow 0.4\n"

See the attachment and let me know if it's all ok.

This is great work, thank you very much. :)
I've committed all the translation files to svn, they are in revision 448.

About the error, it might be a problem on our side, probably something wrong in the .pot file.

Again, thanks for making this translation. :)

In the new update I've found a typo: "Puhsable" (probably "pushable" ), then I don't know if some strings like "addon_list" and "installed_addons" are translatable or not...

Thanks for pointing this out, I will fix it ASAP. ;)
Not sure if I will update the .pot file straight away or do that later in case of more string changes/fixes.

BioHazardX {l Wrote}:then I don't know if some strings like "addon_list" and "installed_addons" are translatable or not...

The "words" addon_list and installed_addons are the names of the files and should not be translated.
I will add some translation comments to those to avoid confusing for other translators.

Hello BioHazardX,

BioHazardX {l Wrote}:Hey guys, Italian translation is ready for the 0.4.1 version! :D

Thanks for the translation. :)

I noticed that the attached file had some string commented out, which are needed and a few strings were missing.
I've uncommented the strings and added the missing ones based on you're older translation(s).
Here are the ones I've added, hope this is correct:
{l Code}: {l Select All Code}
#: ../src/LevelEditor.cpp:1803
msgid "Activate on touch"
msgstr "Attivabile manualmente"

#: ../src/InputManager.cpp:166
msgid "Select an item and press a key to config it."
msgstr "Seleziona una voce e premi un tasto per configurare."

#: ../src/LevelEditor.cpp:185
msgid "Conveyor belt"
msgstr "Nastro trasportatore"

#: ../src/LevelEditor.cpp:1605
msgid "Loop"
msgstr "Ripetizione"

#: ../src/Addons.cpp:590
msgid "Uninstall"
msgstr "Disinstalla"
