Theme "Orange"

Theme "Orange"

Postby Wuzzy » 10 Jun 2012, 21:01

Here's a weird and bright theme called "Orange".
Because I like the color orange.
Current version: 3

It's a bright and highly saturated theme in which everything is in the color orange and there are lots of oranges, too! It makes MnMS much more colorful and is a nice change from the stormy and gray “Cloudscape” theme.

The sky is orange and cloudy (it's even animated a bit!), the blocks are oranges, the conveyor belts are orange peels, you are colored orange yourself, … You get the idea. :D

Some parts I have drawn myself, and some parts of the theme are taken from the themes Cloudscape and Pixel Castle by Tedium. Hello,

This is funny theme which brings a nice touch to the game. Orange might not be my favourite colour but I still like this theme. It's always nice to get more content. :)

I agree that that spikes could be replaced with something more orange-like thing. I like the background but I got this idea of adding a slight orange texture to it. It might work. Also you should include some license information about your theme and the sources you used.

Thanks for the nice theme. :D

Hello Wuzzy,

It's a really good looking colourful theme. :D

If you want I could upload it to the addon system, but you'd have to add a Credits file in which you properly credit the work you derived it from.
I assume that the images of the oranges used are public domain? Or an other open license?

Wuzzy {l Wrote}:I don't know if I like the background. Note that the screenshot does not show the entire background.

Perhaps it's best to change the background to something a bit more desaturated, increasing the contrast with the things in the foreground, players and blocks.

Also I want to note that the Pixel Castle theme was made by leovilok (link). ;)
Which on his turn used art made by surt (link).

I think you should look at default wallpapers of GNU/Linux distros, they always have colorful things that are pretty nice, I'm sure you can find one that is mostly orange.

Hi MCMic and that's a great idea. I looked into default GNOME wallpapers and here's what I found:

Terraform-orange-scaled.jpg

Spaceflare-supernova-scaled.jpg

They are under CC-BY-SA but I couldn't find exact license informations for single wallpaper. Also they are scaled down just showing them for you guys. :)

EDIT:
Both wallpapers:

Just for you to know, feel free to do anything with the theme you want, I won't impose copyright restrictions on the stuff I've made. Some stuff is derivate work from other themes, but I already mentioned that in the first post.

I still really need to find a good background, I am not happy with neither the current one nor these GNOME backgrounds.
I still have no good idea for the spikes block. Do you have any?

As far I know, this theme still works correctly with 0.4.1.

Hi,

Thanks for the update!

I have a minor versioning problem: the version number "2" was used to make the theme compatible with resizable blocks. So can I use the version number "3" in the addon repository?
