I found out, that Unicode support is mostly crippled in most programming languages (.Net, JVM based-languages as well), libraries, frameworks and platforms.
For those who care: (I expect, most professional developers!)

UTF8 without leaky abstractions, if available/required. Or raw byte arrays as a fallback.
