Repositories may be one of the most useful tools for any developer. Thanks to their usage you can avoid various time and financial expenditures. However, despite of the fact, that such highly important platforms are really widespread, not all of the beginning programmers really know, how to choose the best one. https://artjoker.net/blog/github-vs-bit ... vs-coding/

I am a old dog (in spanish is set phrase) but sourceforge was release as free software in the past (near to twenty years ago https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GForge )

And the question. What do you think about other weird alternatives such as git+p2p https://github.com/cjb/GitTorrent ?

Bye.

There are many alternatives to GitHub. (Gogs, SourceForge, GitBucket, BeanStalk, AWS CodeCommit, Phabricator, Gitea, Rhodecode, Allura, CodeGiant, Trac, Cloud Source by Google, GitKraken)

I use GitLab because it is closest to GitHub as far as I know. Moreover, it is open source so you can install it on your own server. Gitlab also provides an easy way to migrate from GitHub.
