I noticed there has been Another 7DFPS. Last time I remember there were a few open source games in there, anyone know if this is the case this time too?

Well, SteamLUG entered the competition, but they used Valve's Source engine. Nevertheless, they said they'll probably release everything they make as open source, despite the proprietary engine. I don't know what came of the project.

Unity3D is quite dominant. I have just sampled a few though.

I saw http://7dfps.com/?action=games&id=59 which might end up being freely licensed (at least the engine?), as it seems to be quite idtech-oriented.

Actually, a "open source" site:7dfps.com search gave me http://7dfps.com/?action=profile&id=369 which uses https://sourceforge.net/projects/whotl/ (uses non-free FMOD)

Missed this earlier, but Blendo did a couple of games based on id Tech 4 for 7DFPS. http://blendogames.com/news/?paged=2
License GPL 3, not sure if it covers only engine or also assets.
