This is my attempt to bring something fun and exciting to the current/future game developers out there..
I will personally be sending the winner of this competition a brand new iPad 2.

• Post a response to the above article to let me know that you are willing to participate.
• Write a game in whatever language you choose (Would a portable coder have it any other way?)
• Submit your game and code to competition@theportablecoder.com(You must release your code under the Simplified BSD License)
• Wait until December 1st when I announce the winner!

A game dev contest without a theme, recommendations to buy books on your blog. My first impression was "a scam to get amazon sale link profit".

Yes, I do have ads and recommendations for books on my site, and yes I would like to make some extra money from them if possible - but I don't think that's a bad thing personally.

I am starting a new site, and I'm attempting to get some followers. Having a competition seemed like it would be a good idea.

As far as work I've done - I'm not specifically a game programmer, so I do not have any ties with any game development communities.
I have contributed to Wine in the past, you can look up my name in their 'News' section.
In the past, a lot of the work I've done cannot be shared - but I have begun sharing some tips and guides (along with code) on my blog - which you will see if you check it out.
As I just said though, it's a new site - so there is not a lot of content yet.

If you do not wish to participate, that's fine - but if you're just wanting to know if I'm trying to scam someone, feel free to contact me personally and we'll talk.
I'm just a guy who enjoys programming and writing.
