So, part of being a good game developer, I have decided to brush up on the liberal arts, so I can write better stories for games. I noticed a lot of mainstream games have occult references in them. I came across this book, that lists some "demons", but by their descriptions they sound helpful and not really "evil." So, (the book in question is in the public domain) https://www.chaosmatrix.org/library/books/lesserkey/lesserkey1.pdf
1.) Do you think the beings in the book actually exist?
2.) If you think they exist do you think they are evil?
I will reply with my own answers depending on how this discussion goes.

You should probably give some suggestions to look at. I glanced over the book but don't find it interesting enough to read.

Personally I don't generally worry about "demons" existing. We have humans. I don't see any evidence that our awfulness is not our own. However a demon shouldn't seem evil. He needs to sound helpful to seduce you into accepting his help. The price comes later.

I'm an atheist, so no, I don't believe in demons.

Some say the demons of Christianity were gods from competing religions that were subjugated by early Christians.

If these beings were going to exist and have measurable influence on humanity, they'd be on Wikipedia by now. Baal would have a little infobox with his birth date, signature, current and previous spouses. There'd be "personal life" and "controversy" sections and a paragraph that was obviously pasted in by his PR crew.

Speaking of, if you want cool ideas from ancient religions, and you're tired of everything being a crucifixion story, Judaism has tons of untapped stuff listed on Wikipedia. Here's my favorite: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tzadikim_Nistarim

"It is said that at all times there are 36 special people in the world, and that were it not for them, all of them, if even one of them was missing, the world would come to an end."
