CC License

A friend gave me some models from a discarded project and I want to share them, but would like to use some license asking for credit. Whats the proper Creative Commons license that requires to mention author when using his work?

CC-by

It only requires attribution.

I want to share some models from an abandoned project that a buddy provided me, however I would like to use them with permission and credit. What kind of Creative Commons licence is required so that the author can be credited when his work is used.

I think CC-BY-SA is fine, too. As long as it's not NC, CC licences are considered open source IIRC.

Well, libre at least. I searched the OSI's open source license list and I didn't find any CC licenses there, even though the OSI has used CC licenses for some of their content sometimes and CC is listed as having been an OSI affiliate since 2012. FSF accepts particular CC licenses as free, though.

Also, don't forget about the ND clause and the obsolete Sampling Plus license, which are also from CC.

you're right, I totally forgot about the ND one, as this one is rarely seen. I don't think I ever noticed the Sampling Plus thingy, though, but since you said it's deprecated, it might explain why :D

Thanks for the additions.

The Free Software Foundation and GNU use the ND clause for a lot of content on their sites, though I guess in terms of other stuff the clause is sort of less common. Have seen it used for stock images shown in some articles for news websites though.

No problem.
