Screenshots/Gallery

I think we are missing a screenshot gallery, we have some on the wiki, but they are very old, so we need new ones. We also need some web-stuff to display them properly, I would like it to be like
this page where there is a overlay showing the screenshot, then the overlayed version should use most of the browsers view to show the screenshot and you can press previous and next to be able to navigate quickly between screenshots.

We have a space on sourceforge where we can have up to 6 screenshots. Since you are an admin you should be able to upload them there. Also if you want to upload some new ones to the wiki that would be fine too, the ones that are there are quite old.
Unfortunately doing something like on the linked page would require javascript to implement. We could maybe just put up a random webpage on the webserver that we link to but we can't put it on a wiki page.

I think putting another page on the server and then linking to it from the wiki should be fine. Then we just need someone who knows how to do the javascript to make the viewer. I can take some screenshots later today

This looks good

, how do we install it then?
Can you
install it, then I can setup the gallery?

As far as I can see our MediaWiki is version 1.15.1, and the SmoothGallery plugin requires version 1.7+, but the official MediaWiki page only has version 1.15.4 for download :S
Edit:
we can download the right version here, just select option "1.15.x"

Andrew: Is there no screenshot button in OD? I cannot find it in the
controls page on the wiki.
I have now put 13 new screenshots in the gallery page

And it will be even cooler when we get the SmoothGallery Extension installed

There is a screenshot button, OD actually captures the "Printscreen" button and outputs a PNG to the directory OD is run from. The png's will be named screenshot1.png, with the number increasing each time but if you close the game and reopen it it will start at 1 again so be careful that you don't overwrite your old pics. If you want to add this button to the keyboard controls page on the wiki that would be cool.

Nice, I have done that now

, you should also add it to the help menu in the game, as it is not listed there (not in the current windows build).

Ok, I will add it in the next commit. Of course it won't get into the windows build until the next release though.

It works !
See the sandbox :
http://opendungeons.sourceforge.net/index.php/Sandboxsvenskmand : take a look at the code of the wiki page... (the gallery is too big, you can adjust the size)

That looks pretty good. We do need to come up with a better description though, both for your tour page and for the sourceforge description. I am referring to the "OpenDungeons is a game based on the style of Dungeon Keeper with a different story and new creatures." It doesn't read very well, however it is hard to improve it much since sourceforge limits you to a fairly short description (like 255 characters or something).

This is a better description on this page :
http://opendungeons.sourceforge.net/index.php/Overview, we could try to complete it and use it ? (this page should be move to the about page.)

Yeah, that would be a good place to start, I just looked though and the "blurb" I mentioned above for sourceforge is actually limited to 250 characters so we should come up with something for that, too.

Ok, now, maybe we could move my page to the main page; it could be completed by the others users that know well the project ?
The first approach is very important...

Hey Andrew I have made a short video to put on YouTube, can I somehow associated it with the OpenDungeons channel or is it only you that can do that?

I have not received any mail

, it might be the forum, xapantu also had troubles with it I think.
Edit: sending email to my self from the page also does not work, so freegamedevs email thingy must be broken, I will report it.
