I found another minor tweak to the css that needs to be done. The index of Special:SpecialPages has some background highlighting that is the same color grey as the text, making it unreadable.

For some reason, the navbar slips down in my browser. Probably because I picked a different font to be default. Rather than FF's default.

Also the bottom of the text area appears to be off. Hm.

It is a very high screen you have :S It also looks very narrow, do you also have the problem if you screen resolution is wider?

xapantu: do you know why there was a black bar in between the top border and the page, as in the screenshot I posted?

it happens at all resolutions. the reason is probably that I have a minimal font size defined.

Andrew: how did you get the unprotect and protect tabs showed? Could take a screenshot of the protect and unprotect tabs along with say the page tab in the monobook skin so I can make the tabs in the right proportions?

Here is the screenshot. You get Unwatch after a page has been added to your watchlist (log in, go to a page, click watch, then reload the page). For unprotect you have to be an admin and go to a protected page. This isn't as big of a deal since it only affects admins anyway and as far as I know the Main Page is the only one that is protected.

How do I change what goes into the menu to the left in the wiki? I want to add a quick link to the svn and git pages on SF.

It seems I do not have permissions for this page :S, who can fix that?

You might have to be a wiki admin to edit it, or do it via the shell.

Yeah, normally only admins or higher are allowed to change the sidebar (in a default mediawiki installation).

Andrew I guess you have admin rights to the wiki, as you set it up initially, can you make me a admin?

I suggest reducing the size of the background picture. It's 2048x2048 and ~250KB. This can easily be cut down to something like 256x256 and 20KB without losing visible quality.

I updated the wiki. Couldn't get the smoothgallery extension to work though.
Will have to do some fixes the skin, gallery background colour is completely white, and the source/code blocks have no background.

I can try to reduce it to say 1024x1024, that will reduce its size by approximately a factor of 4, and still avoid too much tiling. But it will take some time as I need to update the borders that touch it also.

It now only takes 62 KiB at 1024x1024, so it still looks good, I have included the borders that have changed, so it can be uploaded to the wiki :)

I have added a 7z with both skins now.

Will upload them later.
Did some tweaking of the syntax colours, don't look too good yet.

Also noticed that the layout gets messed up if the default text size in the browser is set larger than about 11 points.

We cannot do much about that can we? It works fine if you zoom ind on a page.

I think we shouldn't care to much about the wiki styling anymore if we plan to have Wordpress with a custom made header and use MediaWiki only for the content (most of the MediaWiki elements won't be visible to the user then).
