Music, foley, and ambience.

Music, foley, and ambience.

Postby Impulze » 02 Dec 2011, 12:57

Hello developers!
I am a sound engineer from Norway at age 19.
I was wondering if there is anything I could help you with.
I have been producing mainly electronic music for about three years now.
I should probably mention that I like all kinds of music, and have worked on projects in every genre I know of.

I don't have any orchestral pieces to show, but I promise you, I won't let you down if given the chance.
My greatest influences when it comes to movie and game music is John Williams (Star Wars), and Koji Kondo (Zelda).

If you already have music, I would like to offer my help asba sound engineer by creating foley sounds and other FX sounds.

Please contact me on my e-mail (mathias.bjordammen@gmail.com) if youre interrested.

If you are wondering why I do this, the simplest answer is that I love gaming and movies and music, and as I am a musician, I would like to end up as a conposer within movies and games.
This is how I plan to get my name out, by doing a lot of free work.

Nice that your interested :) We need people for everything, one guys is working on a menu theme (music) for the game if you two could collaborate on making music that would be nice. Sound effect wise we also need people we currently only have a very few sound effects, see this blog post for stuff that we need, also see this post about the current work on the main menu theme that is currently being created :)

Thanks for your reply, Svenskmand.
Sendt a post Timong's way in one of the other threads, and will be awaiting his reply.
It's not much I can do in the weekends, but I can dispose a great studio every day between 16:00 and 00:00, so I have plenty of time.
I will see through the list of sounds needed, and try my best.

If you have a version of the game that I can download and play to get a certain "feeling" of what things got to sound like, that would be great.

Hello Impulze, nice to see you around!

You've got a nice set of modern tracks on your soundclound acc, congrats!

So far I've been concerned regards the musical aspect of this game. (Im not sound engineering effects)

We have agreed upon that in-game the game would benefit well from amibentish, gloomy, dark music, like its originator (Dungeon Keeper) was featuring.
http://opendungeons.sourceforge.net/w/i ... rtal#Music You can even download the original soundtrack of DKeeper http://gamemusic.wordpress.com/2009/11/ ... on-keeper/

So I think theres plenty of stuff to look into as theres six factions which should have different styles of ambient in-game tracks.

Well, the wiki is a good starting point to see whats done and how.

I think you should be aware that the stuff contributed to this project needs to be licensed quite liberally, CC-BY-SA (creative commons) is the way to go as in many of the opensource projects.

Welcome!

@Impluze: I just listened to your music in your signature, nice work. I best like the track entitled "Choices" the track "Piano Symfoni Beat" is also nice :) It reminded me a little of the PianoGuys on YouTube, they are awesome :)

I will get back to you right after Christmas regarding the sfx and stuff, as I am quite busy until then.
But, I ended up making a soundtrack at school today, and I just wanted to share it with you guys.
I imagine a scene from a movie where the main character are buckling up for fight or something, haha :)

Something went wrong during export, so the volume is really low, please blast your speakers (with caution of course) and tell me what you think!

I realize that I posted this in the wrong thread, sorry.
It should be in "Music, foley & ambience".

Merry Christmas to the all of you, best regards, Impulze!

Cool :) it could use some more bass thought and the wispering should be less audiable. And yeah I can hear some Rob D in it that is cool :)

I am not sure how it would fit into OpenDungeons though, but maybe with a bit of fitting of some sort? For the Corpars I imagine something that is a mix of ambient music with a twist of industrial beats at times, for the other factions I do now have much of an idea.

There is no download button :( I wanted to tweak it a bit with some equalization and hear how it sounded ;)
