Creature lists and concept art for them

I like the Wisp, I consider it 100 % done :D Very nice.

I think the Bone golem looks too much like a skeleton. The stone golem have a problem with its joins, it sort of looks like a stone robot :S The stone golem should look more like this one.

Regarding the Abomination my posted pictures are just suggestions. But I think it should be a large unit, and should also look very strong. Scribes concept gives me the feeling of pity for the creature. That should not be the case.

monobi {l Wrote}:Kitchen knife in the undrawn hand is what I imagine to be most suited. Low damage should at least be SOME damage.

I think he should have a champagne bottle and some glasses with champagne in them on the tray he is carrying in his right hand. In the left hand he should have a broken bottle champagne bottle, that is as dangerous as a kitchen knife but fits better with his role as a servant.

Also if you could make him less fat around the belly that would be nice.

I do like the wine bottle idea. Still think theres something better though, I just can't put my finger on it.
As for the rotundness, I tried a quick edit to make him thinner but the proportions didn't work out and he looked like a tube.
Very tempted to add a ruffle neck on the next edit, too.

You should make his pants less sphere like also then he should look good with a smaller belly. I also think him being not too fat fits better with his servant role. The nobles would never pay him or feed him so much that he gets too fat.

I just updated the creature list and all the creatures for the Humans to use the concept art we got. I will update the Undead pages Monday or Tuesday.

CruZ from OGA asked me about if Open Dungeons could be "Topic of the Week" for OGA from Friday and until next Friday. Which I have agreed to and I currently only need to update the Undead creature list and creatures, to be ready for it.

Being the topic of the month in OGA is a really good surprise, lets see what we can get from them. Also note that WFTO finally decided not to risk licensing issues and have decided to retire all DK content and add their own,i hope they fare well from now on.

I finished the list for the Undead :)

Edit: Now I also finished the first blog post with updates on the project :) As you all know we will be OGA's Weekly Challenge from Friday and until next Friday :) So CruZ asked me to make a list of stuff that we need, so here it is anything that I am missing?

i like the new webpage, simple and easy to find info into. Just a few things, in the wiki, flying skull concept could be uploaded and i think the undead worker is far better than undead gnome:

Weak builder:
- Enslaved human: decided on this guy, can use lots of improvement(mouth and eyes are sewn together, almost starved)

Hi,
I saw that you had added my image to the wiki for undead with a comment something like - the heads too big and its too white. So seeing as I'm on holiday at the moment and had a bit of free time I drew up an edited version which I personally think looks a lot better, so if this is better then feel free to use it instead :D

Image

Also, I noticed you needed some sound effects, water, fire or something which I have made loops of in the past if you would like, I don't know the best way of sharing music files though so if you could point me in the right direction I would be happy to share them... The fire loop was made using this sample: http://soundbible.com/1902-Fire-Burning.html
so you would have to attribute JaBa if thats acceptable?

That one looks way better :D His eyes look much better

Although it still needs more detail on the body, e.g. skin texture/detail, maybe he could also be a bit decayed some place (but not too much as he is not a zombie). Also if you have other suggestions for a creature for this class (weak builder) then that would also be appreciated.

Regarding sharing sounds and music then SoundCloud.com is a nice service. It also supports FLAC which is the format we use to archive sound effects and music. Remember to make it possible to download the files when you upload to SoundCloud.

Yeah, directly from the summer hole into the winter hole and again into the summer hole. :D

For CEGUI there are no pre-compiled binaries for the newest version. I'd like to try the debug build and find the crasher bug, but I don't have the time and desire to work into building CEGUI on Windows (not to mention that there's no guarantee that debugging works with the new version).
Also the new Ogre3D 1.8 (what also could be helping to get the project forward) is announced for several months now - release target date was november or december 2011...

Also, with our all new website and some promoting blog posts and videos on FreeGamer and OGA I was hoping to get at least one or two new devs... Then we could give them an introduction and guidelines to the dev process, even if we currently have no possibility ourselves to code - but there's not even a single one...

This whole "waiting" is de-motivating....

Well using the general rule that the monster functionality infere from its look , I would rethink the frontal cones/ drills . For first look they look as spears or rockets.... I would mount a movable pickup axe/ or ONE frontal drill --- which would have spiral uhh fracture .... not the smooth one. Here is some http://image.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/670744/670744,1294611107,3/stock-photo-drilling-machine-in-coal-mine-modern-tunnel-drilling-machine-68645392.jpg example drill, I mean not the shape but those ... clogs could be inspiring.

yeah, those are hammer drills (doble as drilling tools and weapons), spirals go into the texture and normals, also this was proposed to be an advanced miner, but those were rejected. I just tried to make it look robotic but steampunk at the same time, so a single frontal drill would be boring and ugly, also, its barely visible now but the frontal is the place were the furnace door goes, and opens when drilling to receive the metals and turning them into ingots. A concept is in the first page of this topic.

Hey nice miner Danimal. I think I've made a model of him, too. :) If you want some suggestions from me, then take a look at the picture that I've attached. Some more beveled edges on the shoulders would be nice, so that they fit better to the main body, which would also look a bit cooler with more bevels. It looks too much like a cube IMHO. I'd also make the head a bit less round and add something like a neck.

Thanks Skorpio! thats exactly the kind of feedback i wanted and no one gave me. The only part im not too sure is the head, doesnt it make it look too much like a sci-fi mech? especially since i went for a "clunky" feel and make it look like a wheeled wood oven. Anyways, its nice to have another more experienced modeller to help and point things. When i have this ready i plan to do either Nubux´s priest or a witch hunter of my own invention, hope you comment on them too.

You're welcome. :) Of course you can give him a round head as well. I just thought because the rest of the model is kinda sharp edged and cubic, a sharper head would fit better. Also some screws and rivets, which could be baked onto the normal map, would help to get a steampunkier look. I'd try to make it look as if some metal plates were rivetted together.
