MD5sum and security

MD5sum and security

Postby Noob-Tech-Ninja » 20 May 2017, 17:40

Hi there.

I have just downloaded the newest version of Opendungeons ver 0.7.1 (Linux 64 bit)
Before I install it I was wondering if there is a MD5sum for the download, so that I can compare it against what I have ?

I've had a good look at the downlaods pages and the GIT repository and the readme.
But I cant find it anywhere.

Have I missed it, or is there no MD5sum provided ?

Thanks very much for your time and help.
Kind regards.

Hey :)

We don't provide md5sums so far, but if there's a need, I guess I could add them. Or should I go directly with sha256sums? If we're talking security, md5 is not the best option ;)

Hi again, thanks for getting back to me.

I think that it would be valuable to sign the downloadable files for peace of mind for everyone.
And if you were going to do this, then SHA256 would be more than sufficient.

Cheers.
