Depends on the region. In central region where I live it is calm. Different political forces make 'street fights' for newspapers headlines, but there's nothing "horrible".
Thou, several eastern regions are in ruins, many people were killed (luckily none of my friends lost relatives there), even more were forced to flee.
But as for a war... I'd say its rather a large-scale banditism.
On the other hand Ukrainian forces rather consists of untrained soldiers with stupid commandment and thats the main problem, otherwise they would have solved the problem long ago if they wanted to. And the war (or 'anti-terroristic operation' our government calls it) is mainly a cover for corruption, to distract people from social and economic problems.
However, ought to admit that corruption level was significantly reduced with the new government.
