Image recognition software in games?

I guess with AR slowly becoming a thing and good & cheap camera hardware in nearly very laptop, something like this:

Could make for some quite funny multiplayer games.

It could probably also be used for trackerless head motion capture.

No, it is not open source, it is only free for non-commercial use

Oh, you are right :( Was excited by the cool gifs and didn't check the actual license.

Does anyone know a really FOSS solution for such kind of AR applications?

Haven't really investigated it, but I ran across some Open Source AI image recognition software using neural nets at: https://pjreddie.com/darknet/ Sounded like an interesting project.
