Pirates Online Retribution is an emulator for the now defunct game Pirates of the Caribbean Online. We posses all of the resources for the game, and most of the client side code. However, we need help writing some of the server code as well as setting up a Linux VPS Cluster (Several districts in different locations).

Additionally, we need help with our launcher, as well as setting up our Astron database for users to login to our game through the website.

TL;DR - We need people familiar with Python and Panda 3D. Familiarity with Linux and/or Astron is a plus as well. P.S. - The reason I'm posting this on here is because the Panda 3D Forums are extremely inactive and because we'd like to get this project completed ASAP, preferably by the time the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie premiers in May 2017 (less than a year from today).

The budget for the completion of this project is $2,500. I am paying for all of the developmental costs out of pocket. We have an additional $5,000 saved up for monthly server related costs. We accept donations on our Forums and also have Google Adsense enabled as a means of generating future income required to maintain our servers once the initial $5,000 is exhausted. We also own a very successful MC server called Pirates of the Caribbean Online: Minecraft which we take funding from to put towards POR as well.

The cut & paste is strong with this one, and the dark side of copyright infringement seems evident.

Anyways, for the sake of it: do you actually own any sort of rights on the asset of client code which would make this somewhere near legal?

Also: The new (non-tainted) Panda3D server code will be open-source?

Could the software be cleanly rewritten with a Chinese wall method? Maybe that would be a better way to go, then use OpenGameArt for the assets.
