The most developed Doom3 port I could find was called 'dhewm3' -- it compiled fine here (Debian Linux) and while it did run, there were rendering issues (e.g. lighting on models), which I guess is mostly likely because of my very old hardware (GF2MX400) not being detected properly or because he removed support for hardware this old.
The "io" guys seemed to have done nothing, especially this year -- unless I'm looking in the wrong place, and I looked pretty hard, but maybe their development is very well hidden
